I seriously cannot say enough about this place. It's cool, it's cozy, it's got a great vibe, and the food and service are AMAZING. I travel all over the world for work and eat at some of the finest establishments in every city. STREET measures up to those well-known places and totally exceeded my expectations.
We went while on vacation in Mexico City and only wish we would have discovered it earlier because we would have gone back every single day (instead of only twice!) to try everything on the menu. We got to talking with the owners and the staff and learned the chef is a CIA graduate, which already speaks volumes about his ability to deliver high-quality dishes, but he's able to go so far beyond that because of his experiences living all over the world. He really gets food -- it's that simple. And, on top of that, he adds creative touches to each dish to make them unique and so very special.
We went for dinner and had the homemade ravioli. HOLY COW -- this is a signature dish to beat all signature dishes. My partner had the mediterranean fish and never wanted it to end, it was so good (that light white wine sauce packs a huge flavor punch). We also tried the fabulous tuna tartar, which could not have been a better start to our meal. Finally, the yogurt mousse with passion fruit gelee was light but decadent -- the perfect ending. The next day, we returned for brunch and enjoyed some of the best coffee we'd ever had as we ate an omelette and chicken and waffles (Ah-mazing with that Korean sauce!). I have to add that the craft beer and wine menus are very impressive and well-priced. We loved our bottle of Les Sorts!
Finally, I have to mention the people. It's no wonder they have a lot of regular customers from the area because the vibe is SOOOOO warm and welcoming. The staff are well-trained but not stuffy at all, and the family that runs this place is just too cute and so great with people -- I want to be their best friends in...
Read moreSo far, this has been our favorite restaurant in Mexico City. Everything from the atmosphere (funky eclectic) to the service, to the food, was wonderful.
Gabrielle was out server, although the entire staff pitched in when necessary. Even the sous chef brought our desserts to the table. It was a total team effort that paid off with amazing service.
We ordered the tuna tartar as an appetizer. It was served with fried wontons and "wasamole," a delicious combination of wasabi and guacamole. Stacy remarked that it was probably the best tuna tartar she had ever had.
For our main courses we ordered the Mediterranean fish and the patè and date raviolis. Both dishes were excellent. The fish was moist and flakey and had an excellent flavor. The ravioli was a unique blend of flavors that was simply delicious. We were so hungry we devoured our main courses before I remembered to get pictures.
For dessert we shared a peanut butter coffee and the Mexican Pana Cotta (the coffee was totally unique and quite honestly to die for). I think I am returning for breakfast tomorrow JUST to have another peanut butter coffee. The Panna Cotta was very good as well.
We hope to return soon (maybe even tomorrow).
*EDIT we returned for breakfast the next day. The food and the service were just as good as the previous evening. Try the breakfast bagel, you won't be...
Read moreFrom the great customer service to the amazing taste of the plates, this is definitely an amazing place to try out, either for dinner or lunch.
Atmosphere: big, with different spaces and very well decorated. This place is perfect for any occasion. I went for lunch but saw myself coming back for a beer and burger after work. Service: From start to end, the service was on point. Our waiter was super ncie with great recommendations, and by the end of the experience, the chef and owner came to our table to make sure we had had a good experience and heard our feedback. Food: we got kebabs to start out. As a main plate, I ordered the solomillo de puerco en cooca and my boyfriend with oate and datiles. Both were flavourful and very tasty. Plates are small but very happy about the combination of ingredients making every bite a good gastronomic experience.
Prices: not bad and little less expensive than the average restaurants around
I totally recommended this place! BTW, I learned that they just...
