My issue lies with one receptionist --Michelle-- who seemed to make it her personal mission to give us a migraine whenever her shift rolled around. Our first night in, the entire room flooded. The threshold of the shower was badly chipped and so the water flowed out onto the laminate floors, turning our room into a splash park, soaking anything we had placed on the floor. When I informed Michelle of the issue, she accused us of tampering with the shower and offered no help whatsoever. I asked her to send someone up to take a look at the shower and she reluctantly agreed. After about a half hour, no one came to our room so I returned to reception and asked again for help, she said okay and after another 30 minutes, a handyman came to our room to look at the shower, he was in our room for about 5 minutes before he realized there was nothing to be done at that moment, and left. Over an hour in, our room was still completely flooded, and there was no hint of respite. I returned to the lobby once again to plead with Michelle. I asked for a mop and she said the hotel did not have one... I then asked for some towels and she refused, stating the towels were not to be used on the floors. At this point, at the end of our rope, we used the only two towels we had in the room to try to soak up the water, it barely made a dent. We were jet lagged and tired and about to resign ourselves to a flooded room, when, nearly 2 hours after the issue had started, Michelle appeared at our door with a hand towel that she threw to the floor and made a sorry attempt to clean. She said that we could switch rooms in the morning and left us to our private swimming pool.
The next few nights went on without a hitch, the rest of the staff, Christian in particular, was pleasant and helpfull and Michelle was nowhere to be seen... that was until our last night. We had returned to the room after a long day and I was told to come to reception. The lady working there, whose name I did not catch, held up two hand towels that had some makeup on it and said we had to pay $400 pesos to replace it, stating they were unable to remove the stains, despite the fact that we do not wear any water proof makeup, and even I would be able to remove those stains with a little bit of vinegar and dish soap, or if all else fails, bleach. Never before in all my life have I had this issue at a hotel, from 1-star hotels to 5-star hotels, it has never been an issue. I told her I would talk to my friends and return. At around 11:30 at night, the lady at the front desk was at my door with Michelle as her muscle. She demanded I pay for the towels right now, stating it could not wait till morning for reasons I could not understand. Michelle then accused us of intentionally damaging the hotel property and when I informed her that it was just makeup, she said I was lying and that we used some other mystery substance to stain the towel. I informed her that it was, in fact, just makeup, and that I could remove the stains myself if housekeeping was unable to, she denied that and demanded payment then and there. We had an 8am flight the next morning and were unable to fight against her stonewalling so, dejected, we paid the 400 pesos. I have never been subjected to such unprofessional behaviour from a hotel employee before, it was almost comical how appalling her decorum was, especially in such stark contrast to how amazing and accommodating everyone else was. I would love to be able to suggest this hotel to others, I have family that frequently travels to cdmx for work and are always looking for new hotels, but with Michelle on the staff, Im not sure I could do that on good conscious. I hope for the sake of the hotel, and other guests, that Michelle, for whatever reason, just decided she didnt like us, and doesnt treat any other guests like that, otherwise Id be shocked as to how she...
Read moreEdit - went back for a few days more, and hotel administration has changed. They no longer give you soap or generous amounts of moisturizer, shampoo. No longer get free breakfast....doesn't seem good for staff either. Don't think it's good change at all, but they trying to cut costs i guess, whatever. Changing my review to 3 stars.
Stayed here for 3 weeks in 3 different rooms on the 3rd floor. Hotel is great for the price, especially compared to Airbnb fees nowadays. In my experience rooms were clean, comfortable, with great controllable air conditioners, and nice tvs. First room we stayed didn't have an air conditioner and it was quite hot on 3rd floor so we asked to change rooms to one with AC. We also changed rooms once more a week after so they could do some maintenance, hence 3 rooms total.
Staff are all nice and helpful, the "outside" space & restaurant/seating area is beautiful. Neighborhood is good, close to condesa, Roma, zona rosa. Along with the perks of free breakfast (it's small/basic, but good quality) & free bike rentals I thought this place was a great...
Read moreThis hotel is about a block and a half from the closest metro station which is LINE 1 (PINK) if I'm not mistaken. That is great. The hotel itself looks really cool, reminds me sort of an Embassy Suites because of the indoor gardens. The staff are okay, nothing too spectacular. Apart from that, not much else to say. Rooms are distributed on 3 floors, there's no elevator. It's all stairs. During the day, the front main door is open and unlocked. I think at about 10 or 11 pm, the door gets closed and locked. Even as a guest, you have to wait to be let in. How ridiculous. I'm not sure if there's anything in the walls, but at anytime of the day or the night, any movement in the hotel lobby area echoes. People walking up stairs, the guard unlocking the door, or even just people talking on the ground floor, it is heard through the walls. Bottom line, if you just need a place to stay while doing daytime activities, this place is just okay. If you like to go out at night, party hardy, or are a light sleeper, I would not...
