Taquería La Onda — Restaurant in Mexico City

La Onda is a tacos restaurant in the north of Mexico city. When you see it you would think it is very small but inside it is very spacious. It is very Mexican-themed, so it doesn't look very fancy, but that's when the food speaks up. Their specialty are tacos de bistec preparados with a Boing. These tacos are made up of two tortillas, very small cut bistec and a mix of sauces. To finish off the tacos, add lemon and acompany them with a Boing juice. When you turn araound, you see a second floor that is currently off service. La onda offers really good customer service. The employees treatyo nicely and dont complain. Many of my friends told me I had to go to this place for tacos, but it was nothing special. I had an al pastor with cheese and an arrachera with cheese, and my wife had pollo. It wasn’t bad but you can get better tacos on the street or even better at Orinoco. I do have to give them credit for the free tortilla chips and their green salsa - the salsa was perfect, not too hot like most salsas here in Mexico. Seriously, this is the first place in Mexico, in a year and a half, that has actually offered real chips and salsa rather than a fried or baked tortilla like you would use to make a tostada. Downside? They’re always out of habaneros 😕🫠 Staff can be rude (been going for years and it’s actually always been the same) -Not a fan of the waiters, they always seem to be in a bad mood, also, they frequently forget things -Parking can be a nightmare and arrive just during lunchtime is also a nightmare!
