Despite having made a reservation, the hostess’ greeting upon our arrival was less than welcoming. Really, I've experienced a warmer greeting at VIPs or Sanborns. A disinfecting floor mat was the only nod to COVID-sanitation observed as we arrived, even though the waitstaff were masked and gloved. The waitperson started out with great enthusiasm, matched only by the sommelier, following by someone else showing the pierna de jamón ibérico. Now, this wasn’t the first time we’d visited this restaurant, but the upsell today was just too much. Not even halfway into a glass of wine, we were asked if we wanted more, never mind the place couldn’t produce a list of wines available by the glass. A Tuesday afternoon, the diners in the restaurant were easily outnumbered 3 to 1 by staff, the staff whirled around like dervishes performing a dance of efficiency, but they still had to be hailed by calling their names or raising my hand. They just weren’t paying any attention. We sat in the smoking area to take advantage of open windows – and flies. The music might’ve been appropriate for late night at a hamburger joint or 2 p.m. at Costco or Walmart, but it hardly lent itself to an expensive dining experience. The same goes for the flies. After declining dessert twice, we were presented with the dessert plate. Did they think we were going to suddenly change our minds during the coffee service, which was served without a napkin? And then the waitstaff just seemed to disappear when we were finished, begging for the bill. The final touch – the hostess pointing to a plate of uncovered, unwrapped chocolates imprinted with a V upon our departure just didn’t see right in COVID-19 times. Sales instead of hospitality seemed to be the theme of the day. I’m not likely to return. It’s a shame, because it’s a nice building,...
Read moreSome dishes are very good like escamoles and tuetanos. However the service is not what one expects from the image of the place. Waiter know very little how to make the visits pleasant for the diners. Constantly asking what else are we going to order, taking long time to bring more tortillas (we were 4 people and in each turn they just brought 5 tortillas), meat not cooked at the term asked, waiters crossing their arms right in front of your nose to pick a glass right while you're about to bring food to your mouth, etc, On top if these, they have nice open windows BUT near there it seems they place the garbage cans... Not strong, but bad smells reached inside the restaurant in moments....in summary, nice place some good dishes, but really bad/poor service and...
Read moreTerrible place! Food is worst I’ve ever had in a while. We ordered: Queso with chistorra. “Chistorra was not regular color it was brown” Queso provolone. “Burned” Salmon empanadas. “Too much Chile” Marlin quesadillas. “Rare flavor” 4 kinds of meat tacos. “They all tasted like a tortilla with beans and meat didn’t taste at all” “I was seated near the kitchen and the door was opened and smelled like burned cheese”
Don’t know who is in charge of the kitchen!!! Need to change the one who is in charge.
