A Hidden Gem in Sayulita — Luna's is a Must-Experience Culinary Treasure**

During our recent stay in Sayulita, we stumbled upon a family-owned gem that redefined everything we thought we knew about Mexican cuisine. Tucked away from the overhyped, overpriced spots that often crowd travel guides, Luna’s delivered not just a meal—but a full-hearted experience.

From the very first bite, it was evident: this was authentic cooking at its absolute finest. Each dish was masterfully prepared, with proteins cooked to perfection and sauces full of bold, unforgettable flavor—especially the chipotle, which easily ranks among the best we've ever tried.

Beyond the flavors, what truly elevated Luna’s was the warmth and sincerity of the hospitality. We felt more like welcomed guests than customers, greeted with genuine smiles and treated like old friends. As Canadians used to polished but impersonal service, this felt refreshingly human.

The prices? More than fair. In fact, we found that most of the mainstream, high-rated restaurants fell short—either on taste or value. Luna’s, by contrast, offered a five-star experience across the board: quality, price, service, and soul. So much so that we returned a second time during our 9-day trip—and are already planning one more visit before we depart.

To anyone visiting Sayulita: do not miss out on Luna’s. Whether it’s the tacos, burritos, or the crowd-pleasing nachos, you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next return.

Five out of five, without hesitation.

Cheers, A very grateful (and full) traveler...

Food: tacos were not good.. the ingredients were fine but they came out looking like this - chicken and beans inside the tortillas plus literally a few slices of onion and cucumbers. I'm really not sure what happened here because I looked around the restaurant at other people's dishes and they had tons of sauces and fillings and other things to add flavor.

The guac barely had any avocado in it.

Restaurant: seemed unsanitary. no masks on any staff - including cooks (we're in the middle of an omnicron wave as I write this), and there was one sink in the restaurant that was broken, you had to use dirty-looking water from a bucket and scoop it with an equally dirty-looking cup. This town is infamous for giving people food poisoning, it's crazy to me that with that knowledge in mind restaurants don't do the bare minimum to keep...

DON’T SLEEP ON LUNA’S! I was hesitant at first because we were the only ones having dinner at the time and the menu seemed super basic. then two local police sat down to eat and then I thought it’s gotta be legit if the cops are eating here, right? the bar was wild though, I was jealous of how much fun they seemed to be having over there, but I wasn’t in the partying mood that night. anyway, I saw the ladies cooking in the kitchen and they looked serious, so I asked our server que tu recomiendes and she said the chicken quesadilla or chicken mole. I got the mole, which came with rice. it was fire. husband got some grilled pastor tacos and he raved about them. very friendly service, would totally...

The bartender Jesus Mateos was the best. He took his time making the best refreshing drinks. It’s an art form. The food is cooked in front of you. House food. They have flavor in their food. The atmosphere is great. The prices are awesome. 2 x 1 drinks from 11 am to 7 pm. Can’t go wrong. The tables are inside and not on the roadway. All their food plates looked good. We had tacos and guacamole. You will love this place. It’s about 4 blocks away from the beach and off the Main Street into the town. Thank you for your service.
