DONT GO HERE. Only time I’ve gotten gringo scammed in Mexico, long post warning: our late flight got in on 8/29, parrotfish was one of the only spots open. It was completely empty but staff was friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes and margaritas. They had very fancy drinks that were 300 pesos each (served like inside cups that were shaped like bathtubs with rubber duckies inside) so I asked for simple (“mas sencillo”) margaritas for our group of four, the waiter asked casually if don julio was ok and I said yes (no mention of the impact on the price, assumed an affordable margarita, don julio is a common tequila). We have a good dinner, margaritas were really weak but tasty and food was good. We get the bill and it was over 300$ for the 4 of us!!!! The 8 cocktails cost us OVER 200$ (4000 pesos)…. They said it was because of the don julio and that punta mita was very expensive. I asked about the 2x1 cocktail deal that flashed on the screen in front of us 100 times and they said it was a promotion only for their puerto Vallarta chain…no mention of that on the promotion whatsoever (see picture), no indication it didn’t apply here. Clearly they hoped I wouldn’t notice or speak Spanish. They would not back down, not give us the promotion, not even apologize for not giving us a warning that we were getting 30$ COCKTAILS (500 pesos) almost double their “premium” cocktail. I live in Mexico City and love the food and restaurants in Mexico, this is by far the most I’ve spent on a cocktail and one of the most expensive meals I’ve had. Sushi is understandably expensive, 200$ for 8 cocktails made the meal hard to afford also a bummer to get taken for a ride. Btw this is a 50$ (900 peso) bottle of tequila, nothing crazy. As for their “punta mita is expensive” line, we LOVED La Rusitca (award winning, incredible margaritas for 230 pesos/15$) and La Cabaña (150 peso margaritas), both with ocean views and better food... Long story short, the staff ripped us off to get a big bill on a quiet night, didnt think we’d notice, DO NOT GO HERE, plenty of options that don’t take advantage of you and are...
Read moreWe left our fresh catch with ParrotFish one night and came back the next day for the feast — best decision ever! ParrotFish in Punta Mita is pure magic! On the first night, we brought in my husband’s fresh catch, enjoyed some food and excellent cocktails, and left the fish with the chef (intentionally:), so they could work their magic. The next day, we came back for the whole feast - ParrotFish turned our fresh catch into one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had! Delicate sashimi with fresh citrus, chiles, and vibrant garnishes that were almost too beautiful to eat; tacos bursting with bold, creative flavors; and finally, the grilled fish that I inhaled before remembering to take a picture. Every dish showcased the chef’s talent and creativity, allowing the freshness of the fish to shine through. A perfect blend of sushi artistry and Mexican flair! A big thank you to Emilio, our excellent waiter both nights — warm, attentive, and fun, he made the experience unforgettable. Compliments to the chef and all team for creating such a memorable two-day dining adventure at ParrotFish. If you’re in Punta Mita, ParrotFish is an absolute must - even if you don’t have a fresh...
Read moreNot an ordinary place. Food quality, appearance and taste are 10 stars! We're still impressed by it and that's why I give this place all the stars despite a few things I really wish management will take into consideration. Service. We were the first customers that day. The place is quite small. We were greeted by the manager and got our table. Then there was a girl showing us cocktails menu on tablet, then we got our server, then there was a young guy serving us wine. There was a barmen and some girls I guess from the kitchen flowing around and EVERYONE looked at us literally waiting for our micro moves to offer their service. I understand high level of hospitality this place offers and pure intentions ,but that was too much. I some point we felt like zoo animals. Again, not blaming staff they were doing their best. Management has to do a better job to create a balance and comfort. Water price. $10 a bottle -stinks! Place isn't cheap at all and food quality wise it worth it,but charging $10 for 750 ml Evian bottle is just unreasonable. Again, overall experience was great. Staff friendly. If the management will be willing to make fine-tuning the place will be...
