TO THE KITCHEN STAFF: This is the third time we have been to la Nacional Valle this month hoping to have the mole covered onion-fillet taco, and they never have enough; not for lunch and not for dinner. Today, at1pm, the CHEF said they simply would not have them ready soon and that the wait would be 2 hours plus; IF THE CHEF CANNOT HAVE THE MEALS ready to be served during lunch time, then open the restaurant at 2pm or 3pm, or when he feels in the mood to cook something laborious. How can you have “lechón” and not have the onion tacos ready???? So we had to settle on what the Chef decided was “the same thing” as the mentioned tacos: simple fillet tacos with raw onion, and greasy bone marrow on the side. Oh! And the avocado that goes in the tortilla, was charged separately as a guacamole. Not cheap!!
It is a shame given the excellent quality of their food, and the great service the waiters do provide.
UPDATE: went again for my husband’s birthday; this time they DID have the onion tacos… which were served cold....
Read moreWe visited Mercurio Highpark after seeing them featured on Netflix’s Tacos Chronicles series. We were VERY excited to try their very famous blackened tacos de trompo, but unfortunately they had ran out since we arrived after 10 pm. The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING & WORTH IT! Unfortunately, the service is not the same. We had a horrible waiter who constantly interrupted us and whenever we tried to order something he would constantly recommend something else in order to change our opinion, on told of that he stood by to make sure we tipped him (as if he deserved it). The entire night he was very rude and unprofessional, that he made us feel soooo uncomfortable. This is such a shame because this restaurant could EASILY be a 5+ star restaurant. I still recommend this restaurant very strongly, and just hope no one else gets the same...
Read moreThe main reason of coming to this restaurant was because of the Netflix Show, Taco Chronicles and them showing blackened al pastor tacos. The service was amazing, as you would expect from a high end restaurant. My cocktail, piña mezcal, was incredible. The salad also had great flavors and intensity. But, i hate to say that the thing I was most excited for to try, was an utter disappointment. The blackened al pastor tacos, or trompo tacos as they call it here, definitely lacked any meaningful taste to it. It was very dry, almost a little too salty, and as amazing as the salsas were, they couldn’t save the taco from being any better. If you’re coming to Monterey and wanting to get some good tacos, don’t come here for that, come here for the amazing service, great cocktails, and...
