Café Elephant Garden — Restaurant in Oaxaca

I looked up a bunch of breakfast spots in Puerto Escondido and I was so excited to come here. My friend and I saw a sign to be added to the waitlist so we enquired with the host but was met with the most rude and dismissive person. She said it was full for reservations (fair enough we didn’t know reservations were possible) and the waitlist was full. All understandable. But the way she spoke to us was so disrespectful. I also asked if I may have a “to go” coffee and she said “it was not possible” meanwhile there were SO MANY to go coffees around me. Not worth it going here.

My review is not about “expectations not being met” it is about how terrible your staff treats customers. Being full and needing a reservation is completely fine but the way your host treats people is not ok. See the several other reviews that say the exact same thing. I had the pleasure of dining here for breakfast, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. The food was absolutely fantastic—each dish was made with super fresh ingredients and presented artfully, showing true attention to detail. The flavors were vibrant, and everything tasted as good as it looked.

The service was impeccable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed, without being overbearing.

Visited the Cafe for Breakfast around 10am. Food was delicious and very well thought out. I loved that the menu explains in detail what their restaurant is about and how the food is prepared. Their attention to detail can be read and tasted in their food. The drink pictured was a delicious blend of espresso with a hint of Mezcal. The bagels are the base of many dishes on the menu.
