My husband and I traveled from Puerto Escondido to Mazunte for the day. We stopped by Jalih for a drink before we had to catch the last bus out of town. José seated us under a an umbrella in recliners with a view of the ocean. The drinks were terrific. We told him we were planning on coming back to Mazunte the next day and he said we should come back and he would take care of us. We did and his hospitality is wonderful. He made room for us up front with an ocian view again despite the restaurant being busy. He made excellent recommendations as far as food and drinks and all in perfect English. Read moreThis restaurant is the worst place I've ever been to in my life. The food was completely inedible - my fish tacos were greasy, slimy, and definitely undercooked. My boyfriend, who is a chef, could barely stomach his grilled fish, and the two of us didn't eat the ceviche as it smelled rotten. Despite asking for the least spicy option, the Aguachile dish was lathered in extremely hot sauce. They didn't remove it off the menu even though it was their mistake.
The worst part? It was almost a $50 meal! We've had much cheaper meals at restaurants from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido that were far better. Do NOT go here. It is a pricey tourist trap and you'll be lucky to avoid...
