Punta Cometa in Oaxaca is a magical and awe-inspiring destination that offers some of the most breathtaking ocean views in Mexico. As the southernmost point of the state, this scenic cliffside provides a perfect vantage point for witnessing unforgettable sunrises and sunsets over the Pacific. The short hike to the lookout is rewarding, with lush vegetation, dramatic rock formations, and the soothing sound of waves crashing below. Beyond its stunning beauty, Punta Cometa is also a sacred place for meditation, yoga, and spiritual connection. Many visitors come here to practice mindfulness, breathe in the ocean air, and feel a deep sense of peace in nature’s embrace. Whether you’re flowing through sun salutations at dawn, meditating as the sun sets over the horizon, or simply enjoying a moment of serenity, this spot radiates a calming and almost mystical energy. For adventurers, nature lovers, and those seeking a spiritual retreat, Punta Cometa is an absolute must-visit...

The locals argue that this is the best sunset view in the entire area. Definitely give yourself more time than you think because the hike is pretty steep and is not with physical disabilities. Heavenly brings sunscreen and bug spray because it is a jungle hike with incredible views and you can choose if you want to go to the beach or up to the point. Just be warned that it is extremely crowded and if you are trying to take a taxi have them drop you off a little bit farther so you can walk up because there is no turnaround and it's a very tiny uphill and poorly maintained roadJust be warned that it is extremely crowded and if you are trying to take a taxi have them drop you off a little bit farther so you can walk up because there is no turnaround and it's a very tiny uphill and poorly...

Ok ok, i had to wait two weeks to write this review. To stay objective.

Beautiful trail that starts from Mazunte beach. IMPORTANT: either wear long pants and long sleeves or have something to be waking the horseflies away. (They’re too many, too much to handle) honestly I didn’t know what to do. They bite in contact and they’re so painful and itchy.

Pray 10 pesos to get in the trail. The guns it’s short to get the highest point where the wind is blowing and horse flyers can’t attack you. There you can enjoy of the breeze, the sunsets, and just the contrast that offers the observation of the coast shore from this point.

Brace yourselves to get thru the houseflies on...

BEAUTIFUL!!! If you're in Hutulco, Puerto Escondido or anywhere in between you should visit this place. It's an enormous rock that sticks out into the ocean and has hiking trails to the sacred site where the Aztecs celebrated equinox and solstice events. There's a tiny beach on the west side near the point. It's not safe to swim but you can get your feet wet (always keep an eye on the waves). At the point you can look out across the Pacific and there's another hill on the west side close to the entrance. From the second hill you have a spectacular view of Playa Mermejita and the rock formations beyond.

This place is a must when you visit Mazunte. I like taking the stairs that start at the main beach and climb up from there. It is a half an hour walk all the way to the top where you can enjoy one of the best sunsets you’ll ever experience. Try to get there about une hour before sunset so you can get a good spot. Take a tripod if you want to film a time lapse of the event and stay after the sun sets because the sky will still put on a show. Take a flashlight or make sure your phone has enough battery to walk back in the dark.
