I’ve been here three times in the past two days. The first time, I waited almost an hour for a simple salad which was just ok. The flavor combination of the Mix Mix salad was not great. The second time was ok, service being relatively slow but nothing really out of the ordinary for Mazunte, where service is typically poor and slow. The third time was tonight and was by far the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in the 2 weeks I’ve been here and I have eaten out for every single meal. I’ve been to many restaurants in the area.
First, we showed up at 7:15 pm. The place was relatively full but not packed and within the hour most tables cleared out. We ordered an appetizer which I expected to take a while. An hour later the food arrived and was tasty. But my boyfriend and I had placed an order for our main courses at 7:45 (it took a good 25 minutes for the sever to even come over to offer us drinks) and our dinners arrived at 9:15 pm! During that time the server forgot our drink orders. All I ordered was the rib eye, which was advertised with potatoes, salad, rice, and vino tinto gratis (which to me says a free glass of wine unless my Spanish is incorrect). I asked for a substitute for the potatoes as I am allergic. When our food finally arrived, there was the rib eye, a salad, and tortillas. No rice (tortilla substitute... for me to put what in? I don’t know...), no potatoes or substitute, and no glass of wine. The steak itself was good, but that’s about it. The meal cost 350 pesos which is about $20 US! Definitely not worth it. I’ve had way better meals here for as little as $3. My boyfriend’s fish burger was fine but the fries were soggy. This place is not worth it and you can get better food, drink, and service at loads of...
Read moreTheir chilaquiles is the best food I have ever eaten but also everything is very good. Their beans and rice were so extra good. Their coffee drinks and mixed drinks were all wonderful. My husband got Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner one night and I totally scoffed at him, why go to a Mexican place and get Italian food? That Bolognese was absolutely delicious, the best Italian restaurant couldn't do better and yes, I have been to Italy. The staff is so nice. The only problem is the portions are kinda large. I loved Estrella Fugaz. Now I'm ruined for US Mexican restaurants, it'll never...
