Jicara Mezcaleria — Restaurant in Oaxaca

I randomly discovered this hidden gem on my first day in Oaxaca while exploring the neighborhood, it is Such a great little spot! The service at was outstanding. The bartender was super friendly, clearly knew his stuff, and even though we didn’t speak the same language fluently, we still managed to have a great conversation (thanks google translator!) He made me feel totally welcome.

The vibe is warm and relaxed, and the mezcal selection is top-tier. It’s the kind of place you could easily spend hours in without realizing it. Great mezcal, chill lighting, and music that makes you want to stay for “just one more.” The staff actually knows their stuff (Andrés makes the best drinks as he’s been in the Mezcal industry for 10+ years) and won’t judge you if you can’t pronounce Tobalá.
