Waiters are really nice. I ordered a pizza to go , supposedly with Italian Sausage, Bacon and Mushrooms. I did look at the pizza before we brought it home but I didnt have my glasses on and it was dark. The box did have the right name of the pizza on it. Turns out they gave me a Spinach, Brocolli and Mushroom pizza. Yuck! In the dark I had mistaken the brocolli for shredded meat! Who puts spinach on a pizza? It was already late and too far away and too hot outside to take it back. The crust was too thin. By the time I got it back to my room it was soggy and after taking off the nasty tasting veggies I had to eat what was left with a fork.
Thanks for your reply. Sarcastic replies just makes things worse! The menu said in English: "Italian Friarielli Sausage and Bacon", and in Spanish: Salchicha italiana friarielli y tocino. Excuse me señor, but not being fluent in Italian, as undoubtedly you are, but being bilingual in Spanish and English, the way it was written certainly would lead the average sane person to think that Friarielli is a type of Italian Sausage and not broccoli. We all know there is a ton of confusion with Salchicha not being a Sausage but rather a Hot dog in english. Perhaps using proper gramma with the use of a comma, would have made it clearer! It's not my fault for not having glasses on. I definitely had them on when I read the menu! If I had seen that it was broccoli and it was supposed to be a broccoli pizza I would not expect you to give me another one for having ordered it. However even if I had not seen the pizza and brought it home it would still not be my fault because of the stupid way the menu was written. By the way there was no italian sausage on my pizza. I know what it is and I had my glasses on when I looked at the pizza so dont even go there. I can only guess that what you meant to put on the menu in English was Hot dog, Broccoli and Bacon?
And yes your restaurant was 1km away and it was too hot out to walk back...
Read moreWhen we first sat down, we actually thought we were in for a good night — service was quick, and the place looked promising. That feeling lasted about five minutes. We ordered gnocchi with four cheeses (which was fine if you enjoy bland pasta) and a pizza, which somehow became the restaurant’s greatest mystery. After an hour of waiting, we finally asked about it, only to find out the server had either forgotten it completely or gifted it to another lucky table.
To make the experience even more awkward, the owner decided to scold the server loudly right in front of us — nothing like a live drama performance during dinner! Once we reminded them, the pizza magically appeared about 10 minutes later — almost like they had just remembered they were running a restaurant. Of course, it didn’t come as advertised: instead of sausage, we got chopped-up hot dogs. A creative twist, I guess, if you’re aiming for “daycare lunch menu” vibes.
Hoping for at least a decent drink, I ordered a Clericot. The server forgot that too. When we finally tracked down the bartender, he apologized — not for the service, of course — but to let us know they had no apples, so no Clericot either.
And no, no one ever apologized for the chaos, offered a discount, or even attempted to make things right. Apparently, at this restaurant, you get to pay full price for the full experience of being forgotten, yelled at, and served mystery meat.
Would not recommend unless you enjoy dinner theater featuring...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of discovering this cozy Italian spot in playa Carrizalillo. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic! It was a joy to meet Monica and Franco, the owners of La Spezia, they are a lovely Italian couple who brought with them many years of experience in the restaurant business. You must absolutely try Franco's pizza, made with a secret mix of different flours, it gives you all the richness of a perfect Italian pizza without leaving you feeling full and bloated like all the other pizzas in Puerto Escondido. The hand made pasta is also a must have, beautifully light but so satisfying, they use only all fresh and local ingredients from the god blessed land of Oaxaca. This place is so amazing that they even make their own house made mozzarella, you heard that right...they make their own mozzarella right there in the restaurant, just this alone is worth the visit. My partner and I went back three times in the one week we were there. My Partner and I both live in Canada, but he is Italian and said that eating at La Spezia has been like being back in his beloved Italia. Thank you La Spezia family, we wish you all the best, and we can't wait to eat at your...
