First, the many positives!. The staff was very friendly and amazingly accommodating. We had an early flight out the next morning. The man at the front desk who checked us in actually came in two hours earlier than he needed to the next day to call us a cab. If that is not above and beyond I don't know what is! I was super grateful for this kindness. After check- in, I wanted to see one of the larger family suites for future trips, and he was happy to show us one. His English was much better than my Spanish, and he was very kind about this.||||The hotel has a spectacular 4th floor shared palapa with wonderful views of the ocean and plenty of room to relax, eat take-out, or just enjoy a cerveza. The pool on the 1st floor is small but big enough to cool off in, clean, and the tiled turtles are a great touch. There is an outdoor shower for cleaning up after the beach, and yes- you're a super close walk to the best swimming beach in Puerto, Playa Carrizalillo. I really think the QC is in a fantastic location!||||The rooms in at the QC are quite large, with a high ceiling providing an open and airy feeling. We had the standard room with two beds and a couch/futon, with a kitchenette and a table, as well as a bar with stools. I walked in and really loved the lay out, and there is a lot of room to spread out! There's a very large closet in the bathroom, and big built-in dresser with a huge mirror. There is also a safe, inside the closet in our bathroom. The A/C worked great! The private balcony is small, but I'd rather head up to the expansive palapa. (A word of warning...be careful not to accidentally lock yourself out on your little balcony...it's easy to do)! The fridge in our kitchen was small and not full size, although the two bedroom suite I saw seemed to have a regular sized fridge. The small icebox in our fridge (not a separate or insulated true freezer) did work well and did freeze the water bottle I put in it. I wish a coffeemaker and microwave were included; if I had been staying long term I would expect these in a room with a kitchen. (After reading other reviews it looks like perhaps these are available on request? I'm not certain but would have appreciated a coffeemaker, even for just one night).||||The QC is 1/2 block from Benito Juarez boulevard, where you can catch a cab within a few minutes or eat at a number of great spots. (Love the hummus at the El Sultan)! The front gate to the hotel is locked at 10 PM for extra security, and there are cameras in different spots around the hotel.||||The few cons I noticed were big enough for me to give this a 3 star rating instead of 4, which I would have liked to as there are many things to like about the QC. Overall, the room cleanliness was good, but there were a few things that could have been improved. The high walls above our shower were moldy. There was dark mold, as well as fuzzy white mold growing on the corner. The ceilings are high, so this was high up there but still unsettling. Our towels were clean but the hand towel and bath mat were stained so they looked dirty. The opening to the small garbage can in the kitchen was greasy and dirty. ||||Security is a big issue for me. The two doors to the rooms do not have dead bolts or chain locks, just a simple lock within the the door handle itself. If I had been traveling alone this would be a deal breaker for me, even with the extra added security of the locked front gate in the evening. The sliding window facing the entrance also doesn't seem super secure. ||||I would stay here again if the doors and walkway-facing window were improved with better locks. (Or for the sliding window, even just a wood dowel in the window track). The cleanliness issues I saw could easily be remedied. As we were only staying one night we did not complain, and therefore did not give the staff a chance to fix these issues for us, which I truly believe that they would have. Again, all the staff we ran into were very friendly, and went out of there way to accommodate us, so I think they would have taken care of these issues if we had given them a chance.||||Overall the Quinta Carrizalillo is in a great location, has wonderfully open rooms and an amazing palapa, along with a friendly and attentive staff. Improved locks on the door and a little more attention to detail would add at least a star...
Read moreWe spent a few weeks here and there are pros and cons about the place. First many of the guest return year after year and are a great bunch. They have an awesome palapa on the 4th floor with amazing views of the sunset and happy hour starts at 5.30 pm. On occasion the guest get together for appies as well. The location is great, just across the street are many restaurants. The pool area is a nice spot but the water is on the cool side and the pools chairs are covered in duct tape and need replacing. The rooms come with a kitchen but are poorly equipped. You should consider bringing your own frying pans, cutting knives & board, etc. They have lots of plates, cups, a few forks, spoons and butter knives but that is it, after that it is hit and miss. The fridges are in poor shape and need to be replaced as they frost up, we had a missing freezer door and was replaced with cardboard. It didn’t keep your drinks very cold.. The room was spacious and was air conditioned which was nice. Staff are friendly and will do their best to assist you. It is well...
Read moreIt is in a great location near Playa Carrizalillo. Many restaurants and the beach are walking distance. The staff would mostly answer my concerns. There is a nice rooftop. That’s it! The pictures you see are absolutely far from the reality. |1) Pool - it’s not filled to where it should be, it is cloudy (dirty), it has mold on the tile. |2) They sun dry the laundry so the towels feel like sand paper.|3) There was a horrible smell coming from the bathroom. I told staff and they told me to cover the shower drain with some plastic thing they had. It didn’t help.|4) Pots/pans are way over used, Teflon coming off. Pictures show wine glasses, nowhere to be found.|5) kitchen cabinets handles were sticky from the oil, the top of range hood sticky and dirty.|6) the dresser seemed to have been eaten by termites.|7) they gave us 2 remotes, one for TV, other for the box. It only worked once then it didn’t work.|8) the safety box wouldn’t work. I told them but I never heard back.|Unless we got one of the worst/oldest unit, I don’t know how else to explain the ratings....
