Rústico Restaurante — Restaurant in Oaxaca

It was a Tuesday evening, on November 5. Just last week and we’ve been here before. Dinner dining from the top tier part of Rustico restaurant is something special to note. You have a view of the ocean, the sky, the sunset, the pool, music, and Quinta Bella resort itself. With most rooms facing the ocean and restaurants, the walk to either places are just minutes away.

The open setting of Rustico, as you walk up un-steep stairways, gives an on going flow of natural air. The electrical fans that are blowing above, offsets the heat, so it goes unnoticed.

To start off our dining experience, we were seated immediately, drinks were served, and food was delicious. Our server was nothing to brag about. Sorry forgot his name. He was mediocre and was slow on certain requests. To his defense, it was a busy night but he should still communicate with all the tables that he’s waiting on. I felt we were always questioning his whereabouts and our requests.

Dislikes: the wooden fork and other utensils that were made of wood. I get the vibe they were going for…rustic, stone age, Amish, whatever. I wasn’t down, especially if it makes my dining experience a challenge. I should have asked for metal utensils.

I would, however, like to high light one of the pork chop dishes. It was not only tasty and fresh but every bite was soft, yet crispy. Props to the chef. It was extra large piece with a bone at the end. Didn’t expect such size. We all wanted a bite and agreed, it was the best pork chop so far. We were tapped out and ready to leave. We asked for our bill. Not the server’s fault but somehow- if you don’t double check- you maybe paying double taxes on your bill. We calculated multiple times…the tax was in fact included in the price of the meal and then listed separately. Definitely misleading. Just make sure your calculations match. I wasn't able to take pics of the food for reasons shown below but the food and service is some of the best in town. I wouldn't get delivery from them, I tried and was disappointed. It needs to be served fresh.

If you leave without trying the panna cotta, assuming no allergies, you're missing out on one of the best deserts ever. Srsly.

I even had a special, unexpected guest join me for my meal 🦋 He injured his wing and decided to hang out with me until I had to leave. The staff even helped by adjusting the fans so they didn't blow directly at our injured guest. When it came time to leave, I placed him gently on a bush and...

Not sure why the low marks, we LOVED it. Because of the poor score we didn’t choose it, but had to go due to lack of space at the neighboring restaurant. Loved it! We sat up on the beachfront terrace (no ac but plenty of fans plus ocean breeze) after showing up without a reservation on a Friday night at 7. I was hesitant due to my gluten allergy, but i was able to order the Mediterranean salad and the risotto Nero. Both were delicious! My husband ordered the pasta rústico and loved it.
