A very serene little vegan Japanese restaurant owned by a Japanese family living in Oaxaca. Great flavors and something different to try when exploring outside of traditional Oaxaca cuisine. The food had both Asian and Mexican flavor profiles. The menu del dia (soup, main, dessert, juice) was light but the perfect portion for me on a hot summer day.

Update: have found myself coming here every other day while in Oaxaca. This restaurant has been a little oasis for me. I find myself craving vegetables and Asian/Japanese flavors in Mexico and the charming family at Viriditas manages to be so creative with it. I had no idea vegan food could be so nuanced. What a hidden gem this is — an absolute must visit and am...

Found this place after Googling vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Oaxaca, and we are so happy we found it! Everything on the menu is vegan, and the dishes are Japanese inspired, with a little Mexican twist, for example the ramen with lots of fresh cilantro and lime. The veg sushi was very special too, it looked like a work of art and tasted just as good. The service was warm and friendly, and the family who run the place are very sweet. It feels like dining in their home, and all the guests seem to know each other, so it felt like an authentic, local place. It is a short walk away from the city centre, but highly recommend coming to Viriditas for an excellent meal....

I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but I absolutely love eating here! They keep pricing accessible for their menu del día that changes between different cuisines, that includes a drink, an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert. Their set menu is Japanese food with some Oaxacan spins, like their incredible vegetarian sushi set having one piece of nopales and another with tempura flor de calabaza (my favorite one!). The owners are a kind Japanese couple with three kids you’ll often see there. I always appreciate all the servers’ attentiveness. Sometimes I also order one of their vegan cakes in advance for special occasions like birthdays or...

This was a really surprising find… excellent vegan Asian food, which was a welcome break from tacos and tlayudas. We had an amazing plate of sushi and also enjoyed an excellent menu del día, both extremely tasty, fresh and authentic, not to mention well-priced. I should also point out that each dish served was not really a meat substitute but rather stood on their own in terms of inventively bringing out the flavours of natural ingredients, all the while remaining loyal to the Asian palate and the Japanese eye for a perfectly served meal. We would highly recommend this place… would definitely return if we had more time in Oaxaca!

My non-vegan friend (a carnivore!) and I stopped by for a quiet dinner and it was one of the best meals we had. We are New Yorkers who have had delicious Asian food and still felt like the food quality and prices were wonderful. The ramens were yummy and the sushi platter was delicate and thoughtful. There were native ingredients used like squash blossom tempura, jicama tempura, napale (cactus). It was a nice Japanese-Mexican fusion! The Japanese couple running this small shop has very cute children as well hehe.
