Loncheria Fabiola — Restaurant in Pisté

We wanted to find some authentic Mexican street style food and not spend a lot of money doing it. We were able to make all of those things happen at Loncheria Fabiola in Pisté. We loved that we could dine outdoors (and hangout with like 15 stray dogs haha) and this was incredibly close to the Mayan Ruins at Chichen Itza so we were able to grab food here the night before our tour of the ruins.

Started off with some pork tacos and some assorted empanadas. The empanadas were good but I would say out of the three things I tried they were my least favorite. The flavor was solid and the fillings and consistency were enjoyable but they lacked the pop of the other two dishes for me personally. I added some of the hot salsas they brought to the table and that made these even better but the tacos and my entree definitely held the edge.

These tacos were served on a thicker tortilla than the tortillas they brought for our entrees. I really enjoyed the texture and mouth feel of this compared to a typical corn tortilla. It had more flavor as well to me. The pork had great flavor and was very tender, and the toppings as well as both hot salsa’s on this was really great together. I’d eat these tacos all day long.

For my entree I decided to get the “Chochinita Pibil” platter. This is this regions famous go to dish so it made perfect sense to try it out. It’s a pork that is slow roasted with interesting seasonings like cinnamon, achiote, and allspice. The flavor on this was not similar to things I’ve had before and I enjoyed it so much. The pork was super tender and there was a bit of a smoky flavor as well. I made some tacos with it and added some of the rice and mole and it was seriously an awesome bite. Would order this again 10 out of 10 times here.

So glad we ignored the negative nancy reviews and stopped for lunch, I am thinking shills from the adjoining restaurants that try to swoop in when you get out of your car and guide you elsewhere. Friendly staff at Fabiola's. We sat at a table in front of the counter and watched them prepare our lunch meals fresh, including pressing the tortillas. I had 4 tacos (3 chicken, 1 cochinita pibil) excellente, my wife had the cochinita pibil platter, we split an order of 4 empanadas and 3 frescas to wash it down. Total bill was 250 pesos...

La comida del lugar sin sabor. Pedimos empanizado y no tenía nada nada se sabor la carne. No la marinan. Los salbutes y panuchos muy pobres y de mal sabor ( es más repollo, cebolla y tomate que carne) , creo que el aceite está sobre utilizado. No es tan económico como tal en los precios. La atención si de plano fue mala, una muchacha que nos atendió al comenzar nos dió el menú, al momento de recibir el menú no dice. Ya estan listos para ordenar??? Y le contesto, amiga dame tiempo de por lo menos leer el menú. Y puso su cara y se quito. Después al pedir la comida, le pregunto de que pueden ser los salbutes ( tipo de carnes) y me empieza a comentar pero su cara volteada a otra mesa. Lógicamente no escuche lo que me dijo. Y le vuelvo a preguntar y veo que pone su cara, a lo que le contesto que si me puede decir de frente mejor y pues dejar de voltear a ver a otro lado, por qué están más al pendiente de atraer más comensales, que de atender los que ya tienen. Al final el sabor es malo( no tiene nada que ver la atención con el sabor. Pero es malo de verdad ) muy insipido. Al pedir la cuenta, me la trae y literal me de deja caer en medio de la mesa, groceramente. Y al retirar los platos al final. No hay un compermiso o un puedo retirar los trastes. Simplemente de mala gana. No hay un buen día o gracias al final. Escuchaba, que le decía tío al encargado o no sé si dueño. Pero deberían ver un cambio en ese tipo de personas. Sinceramente no recomiendo este lugar no en sabor,...
