Doki Doki — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

Very expensive for a restaurant that’s far away from the 5th Avenue. A typical tourist trap. There were only around 7 other people, and our food (mostly raw sashimi and sushi) arrived after 35-40 minutes, very long wait. At the start of the dinner we ordered 2 servings of nigiri , salmon and tuna, which comes in 2 pieces. After 1 hour, they didn’t serve our nigiri. I asked twice the waiter and the waitress about our nigiri orders and they said it’s still coming... In the end as we finished our dinner, they brought one serving of tuna nigiri, not 2 as we ordered. We finished our meals and asked for the check. To our surprise they added not 1 but 3 servings of nigiri. So we had one serving of nigiri and they wanted us to pay for 3!!

I called the waiter and she only removed 1 serving of nigiri of the list and still wanted to charge us for 2 servings even though they brought us 1 nigiri dish. The waiter made a mistake and blamed us. We really wanted to enjoy this restaurant but when the waiters add extra dishes to our bill that we did not have, it made us feel really disappointed in the customer service of the waiters here. We will never come back and don’t recommend this...

I was not expecting this, but just had the best sushi of my life, I believe. Wow, the flavor and textures are all blended with care and melt in your mouth, service was excellent and attentive, love the interior and the open kitchen. Will 100% be back!

We had Jazmin tea, two maki rolls (first one of prawn and salmon, which is by far my favourite, and tuna with salmon which was also amazing), soup, and the salad with octopus, salmon - and that was phenomenal! Lava cake for desert had deep chocolate taste, not overly sweet, beautifully balanced with excellent...

Worth every penny!! My favorite sushi restaurant in the world right now! And I’ve lived a good amount of places. The sushi here is excellent and so is the staff. They are so attentive to all the details. I’ve been here a few times and have tried every section of the menu and everything was superb! Even the desserts. The fish cuts are so fresh and succulent. And my kids love their fried rice and ramen. What a gem. To many blessings and success! Praying this place stays around...
