This was the first place we went to in PDC and it left a bad taste in our mouths figuratively and literally. We should have known right away it was bad when the chips and dips came out with soggy/stale chips and watery flavorless dips. I ordered steak tacos and my partner got chicken fajitas and both dishes were inedible. I do not believe it was beef, it had the look of pork, and if it was beef it was the worst quality meat and not worthy to feed to any living being. Nothing but grease, fat, gristle, and an unappetizing smell. I don't know how this restaurant could have gotten fajitas so wrong as well, the meat was unseasoned and also unspeakably greasy and came out with the tortilla and veggies all mixed on one plate leading to a sad unappealing soggy mess that my partner took a few bites of only to not appear rude. Our stomachs had turned and we lost our appetites and I got super nauseous and threw up the whole evening. I sent my food back and they were nice enough to take that off the bill. It was a funky ranch atmosphere with typical PDC too loud music and the drink I had wasn't bad, I would just stay as far away from the food...
Read moreI was at Playa Del Carmen in two separate occasions this winter. Both of which, I visited El Ranchito de la 10. The first time, two of us sat at a table where we waited for someone to come for. Not a single server, not the host, bothered, even though we made eye contact and they acknowledged us. It became very apparent that we were being purposely ignored. I have no idea why. After a full 15 minutes, we walked away. The second time, last week we decided to give it another try. This time, we were sat on a table and served. We ordered drinks and food. Everything was served semi fresh; the ingredients were less than fresh, the drinks warm and the overall fare really sub par. We have enjoyed great food from higher class restaurants to equally great mom and pop joints in the town. This was by far our only, repeatedly, bad experience. The service was arrogant and not friendly, the food a let down and the overall experience, the worst I have come across in the country. It was, as it may, the low standard by which to really gauge the great offerings available in town.

Read moreI attempted to go to El Ranchito at around 8:30pm this past Saturday night. We waited in line outside for several minutes with many open tables before being asked to be seated. The server showed us to a half-sized table crammed against the wall inside, with a fire extinguisher jutting out into our faces. We asked to be seated at a table outside, but were told that table was for parties of 4 only. We thought that was interesting given there were at least 3 other couples sitting at other 4-seat tables. A few minutes later, we were offered the table we asked for. Then, we proceeded to sit there for 20+ minutes without being given a menu and without anyone approaching our table at all. In fact, the table next to us paid, was cleared, and had a new party seated with their orders taken in that time. We even waived over the server a few times after making eye contact but he just did not seem interested in coming over to our table. We eventually gave up and walked away to another bar 2min down the street where we were served drinks...
