WOW the absolute worst customer service Iâve ever experienced in playa del carmen. The managers/owner just drink while theyâre working, and sit at a table with their friends instead of having it set aside for guests.
Their communication was awful from the startâwe called 3 days in a row and nobody answered any of our phone calls or social media messages. We had to walk 25 minutes and make a reservation in person, to which the OWNER told us that we needed to be at the restaurant by 8:30. At 7:20 we showed up at the restaurant, about 5 minutes into the Montreal canadiens game. Both the manager and owner were super rude right off the batâletting us know that we were late for our reservation and there was nothing they could do. We asked how it was possible for us to be late when we had until 8:30, and the owner said âsometimes I make mistakes, Iâm only human and I said the wrong time.â I can totally understand human error, but his attitude towards us was completely disrespectful and straight up rude. I let him know that that was fine, and asked how they would solve the problem at hand. They had absolutely no solution, and then began to talk to their staff about us. We tried to flag somebody down for help, and we watched the manager tell them not to see us.
We questioned what customer service they had, to which they said âask that guy heâs the ownerâ, and the owner refused to come see us. We watched the owner sit down with their friends and drink, and then speak in French rudely about us (we knew what he was saying) at a table right in front of us.
If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would, I canât remember the last time I was treated with such disrespect as a woman. Absolutely no effort to resolve the issue, and a completely belittling attitude.
You are MUCH better off going around the corner to 3 amigos sports barâwe were welcomed right away and promptly sat. As people who have been giving money to this restaurant for years, we were appalled by the treatment we received! Cannot emphasize enough how rude they were, and based off the other reviews itâs apparent that they do not care about...
Read moreâWhere do we find NFL games?â We asked. We found this amazing bar that had amazing staff and a great atmosphere.
First off I was drinking Tecate lights and when they ran out of âcold ones in our coolerâ the owner/manager took the initiative to walk to a local store and buy some that were already chilled...for me...amazing customer service!
Next are the wings. Nobody does wings right, either too saucy or not crisp enough, too small or just not that good.
This place rocked 10 wings for $130 (pesos) so good that we ordered another round of wings. Iâm serious they are fantastic and the price is great.
Our service was fantastic, staff that wasnât assigned to our table came by to pick up an empty or to make sure we were good, you donât see that in many places they werenât territorial.
At half time of the game a Canadian musician played a fantastic set, so smart to have a musician instead of a half time show on TV.
Thereâs a ton of hockey jerseys on the wall, I hear the place is run by Canadians, yet on a day where NFL was on I felt like it was the center for NFL in Playa.
The menu is proper for the tourist area, the people that run this place are super smart, the staff makes you feel like youâre super important without being awkward about it.
This is the type of place you should support during times like these where places are string to keep afloat.
Fantastic experience, great place, instant favorite in an area full of flash and people tugging at you to come in and try their stuff... go ahead and check out this place I promise itâs worth the...
Read moreEDIT:My rating is based on only this visit and the seats noted below; in general it's a fun place, good food, service was good too. This restaurant is very French Canadian. The great majority of the clientele are from Quebec and speak only French. Kind of cliquey, but that's the draw. A popular location for watching hockey. If The Canadiens (The Habs) are playing, you better not root for the other team! The Montreal Poutine I had was delicious. The small plate was a lot of food. My friend had burgers and really enjoyed them. Unfortunately, two of our seats were in direct line of the spotlight projector so I was pretty much blinded the whole time. It was annoying, but there were no other tables available. Only two tables, one at each other at the end of the restaurant under the big screens are affected, so avoid sitting there. It was Valentine's Day and my birthday. The owner gave all the ladies a beautiful red rose. And my friends had them bring out a phenomenally delicious dessert. EDIT:My rating is based on only this visit and those seats; in general it's a fun place, good food, service...
