LA VAQUERÍA — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

I have never written a review whilst still sitting in the restaurant but La Vaqueria popped that cherry! Starters were inoffensive - not brilliant just middle of the road. The steaks - oh my goodness - the steaks T-bone was paper thin and cold as was the accompanying creamed spinach! Creamed spinach sent back and speedy returned....cold! Steak - I managed about 1/4 of it before looking at my dining partner whose New York Strip and undercooked and oozing blood in the way that an order of medium well placed be. The solution - return to the kitchen. The response - another steak oozing with blood! At this point we decided it was better to make a hasty retreat..... to another restaurant! You...

We had an incredible meal at La Vaqueria! Our waiter was friendly and attentive and we loved the food. The starter Caesar salad was fresh and delicious as was the fried cheese starter. My husband and I both had the prime rib for our main course and agreed that it was the best steak we've ever had, deliciously tender with a great little trio of sauces to go with it. We also loved the environment, it was well decorated and created the perfect atmosphere for a night out. If we are ever back at the resort this is the first place...

Food - 0 stars, our steaks were just terrible, floating in oil, very thin cut even though were like a piece of rubber. How you can waste beef like this? Service - 4 stars, friendly and rapid, only a good bottle of wine that we purchased made our night, Mexican wine surprisingly good, presentation was nice and we got nice wine glasses from manager. If you like steaks I would highly recommend to stay away from La Vaqueria. Sorry, buffet is much better restaurant 😉 we ended up...
