A Fabulous, Family Friendly Experience at Sen Lin Our dinner at Sen Lin inside Grand Velas Playa del Carmen was exceptional from start to finish. The ambiance was beautiful, highlighted by a talented musician playing an electric violin, which set a memorable mood for the evening.

Our server, Alejandro, went above and beyond to make our experience comfortable and enjoyable. Navigating my gluten sensitivity can be challenging, but Alejandro made it easy, he offered many gluten free options, including off menu modifications that weren’t noted but could be prepared safely. It was such a relief and allowed me to fully enjoy the meal.

The drinks were expertly crafted with top-shelf options, and each appetizer was incredibly fresh. I loved the sashimi selection, which came with delicious accompaniments, and the Tom Yum soup was full of rich, satisfying flavor. Since I enjoy spicy food, I mentioned this to Alejandro, who kindly brought out two extra hot sauces so I could adjust the heat level of any dish, such a thoughtful touch!

For my main course, I ordered the Pad Thai, which, while not marked gluten free on the menu, was prepared gluten free upon request. I also asked for it without egg, and they accommodated this perfectly. Every dish felt customized and carefully prepared.

Our kids also had a fantastic time, they adored their meals and were delighted with a special blue Shirley Temple that made the night extra fun for them.

Service was very lacking here. Waiter made a mistake and poured a $400.00 of wine to the wrong people. Owned up to the mistake but would not remedy it in an acceptable way. Asked for the manager and manager would not come to the table. I suggested they provide a second bottle with a discount. Suddenly they were out of that wine. The food was decent. Fried lobster, pad Thai and fried rice were all pretty good. The service was friendly, but a few too many screw ups for me to give it a 5 star rating. They brought out 2 of the same entrees by mistake. They also made my dish with chicken even though I asked for the vegetarian option. They also brought out some random dish that no one ordered.
