Tauro was the sole dining experience from the week that didn't even come with the great service we had enjoyed elsewhere on the property.
The NY strip on the presentation plate they brought out before ordering was twice as thick as what was served on my plate. I ordered rare and got medium. The meat was no better than I would get at a chain grocery store in the US which makes sense since it is advertised as being from the Midwest of the US. The mashed potatoes were slimy and inedible not to mention $15USD for a single scoop. The chimichurri was more oil than herbs and inexplicably had finely chopped tomato. It, too, was and extra $15USD. For a sauce. That means that the side and the sauce cost 2/3 what the steak cost. The chocolate cake was dense and flat. The drink I ordered was listed as having chili liquor, but had absolutely no kick whatsoever and honestly tasted watered down. And all of it was served in a space far too dimly lit and with cheap Persian "rug" wall decorations that looked like someone printed them at a Kinko's.
And don't even get me started on the outrageous pricing for all this. We happened to notice that one of the bottles of wine on their wine list was the exact same varietal and vintage as one we had ordered at Bassano the night prior but was literally twice the price at Tauro.
Shameles.
The only positive comment I heard was that the creme brulee was lovely.
It's also highly suspicious that the Google listing keeps showing as permanently closed. We were told that this restaurant was brand new. Seems fishy. Review...
Read moreWe are staying here at the hotel. This restaurant is certainly beautiful. And in the times of covid you can safely eat outside However, the service is poor even verging on hostile. They refused multiple times to bring me a paper menu despite there being a stack of paper menus, 5m from my table. They were condescending to my husband because he didn't understand what the all inclusions were but it wasn't fair because we didn't have a menu. They also had lost our reservation but made out they were doing a very very big favor to us by allowing us to sit down despite me having written proof that we had a reservation. The service was also very slow and we were waiting for a very long time which is not easy with young children. Towards the end of the meal they were a bit less hostile but I'm just not sure what happened at the beginning. In terms of the food, the Cornish hen seemed to be the best bet. My bavette steak was rather tough. The children's menu is limited to Mac and cheese or chopped steak. As we didn't have a menu we couldn't order drinks until after our entrees - when we finally got the drinks menu. But the martinis...
Read moreWe had high hopes for this place. I'll make it short.. ordered a $200 steak from their special not on the menu steak platter and asked for medium well. 45 min later server comes asking if they can cut up my meat to make it cook faster so they can bring everybody's plates out the same time..I said no I'll wait and you can bring the rest now. Less than 3 min later he comes back with supposedly my steak first.. the lighting is piss poor so I can't tell how it is cooked. He takes a knife cuts it in half whips out a tiny flashlight aiming at the meat and puts the dish in front of me. The meat I ordered was like 32oz tall and fat aged ribeye. This thing was a pancake burnt to a black crisp carbon on both sides.. and it was dry beyond well done. I bit my tounge and didn't make a scene so that my family can enjoy their dinner in peace.. but boiling inside over having paid $200 for a burnt jerky. Literally left more than half on my plate because it was uneatable. Decoration bland..no personality.. lighting poor.. service in par with what you'd expect at a...
