From the moment we arrived at Chaka, the service set this dinner apart from every other meal we had during our stay at Grand Velas. The attention to detail was extraordinary, and our servers, Omar and Fernely, worked seamlessly as a team to make the evening truly special. Their ability to anticipate our needs and personalize every part of the experience made this our most memorable dining experience at the resort. Omar and Fernely were the best servers we encountered at any restaurant within Grand Velas. They not only provided attentive and thoughtful service but also shared fascinating insights into local specialties. One highlight was the Carajillo, an after dinner drink they recommended. It was both delicious and effective in aiding digestion, a perfect finale to our meal. Every dish was beautifully prepared and adjusted to meet my dietary needs of being gluten free and free of meat and cheese, without compromising on taste or presentation. I started with the fish aguachile served with corn chips, which was fresh, light, and bursting with flavor. It was the perfect start to the meal. For my second course, I enjoyed the garden fresh salad, modified to remove the cheese. It was refreshing and vibrant, with a bright citrus component and delightful textures that made it memorable. For my entrée, I had the lobster in sweet chili butter, prepared without cheese and completely gluten free. This dish was a standout, with the lobster cooked to perfection and the flavors of the sweet chili butter elevating the dish beautifully. My dessert was the chili cake, which, although not indicated on the menu as an option, was able to be made gluten free. Our servers recommended it as the most delicious and unique dessert, and they were absolutely right; it was by far my favorite dessert from all the restaurants I dined at within Grand Velas. One of the most enjoyable parts of the evening was Chaka’s wine cart. When it came time to select a wine, Omar and Fernely presented a beautifully arranged cart with a wide array of options. They recommended a Rosé I had never tried before, and it paired perfectly with my lobster. This personalized touch made the experience even more special. Every dish tasted incredibly fresh, as if it had been sourced straight from the farm that day. The ingredients shone through in every bite, reinforcing a true farm to table feeling that is rare to find in resort dining. Chaka exceeded every expectation. Between the outstanding service from Omar and Fernely, the fresh and perfectly prepared dishes, and the unique touches like the wine cart and local specialty recommendations, this meal was a highlight of our time at Grand Velas. I wholeheartedly recommend dining here, especially if you value attentive service and exceptional cuisine.

Chaka was my favourite buffet for breakfast with amazing variety of fruits, juices, pastries and of course Mexican dishes for breakfast. The location in amazing it’s surrounded by trees and you have also view to the Zen pools. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We also had few lunches here. One was buffet and the others were ala carte. Highly recommended.

Our least enjoyable dinners at Grand Velas. Some of the food was inedible (eg very tough lobster). We had to give our dessert order 3 times because they never took down our orders the first 2 times, so our dinner took nearly 3 hours since we waited over 30 minutes for dessert. We were seated in a corner table and a mouse came out from a corner wall. We pointed it out to a couple servers who looked at it but didn’t do anything. The mouse ran back into its corner but was squeaking very loudly. When we asked to be moved, the hostess and a server laughed us off. They literally laughed in our faces. My husband had to get up from our table and insist we move because we didn’t want to eat dinner while the mouse was squeaking loudly throughout our meal. The restaurant was pretty empty, so there was no excuse for their service issues. It was especially jarring because the other restaurants on property had great food...

The service and the food were both amazing. We had lunch and had a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts. All the food was crafted with the utmost r care and tasted amazing. The shrimp and fish tacos were very flavorful and the tuna tzik was amazing. The Curtis for dessert were warm and melted our mouths. Finished off with a latte. The service was even better, as our waiter made sure all the food was brought out in a timely manner....
