Pluto Dive — Local services in Playa del Carmen

My dad, brother, and I were staying in the area and had the pleasure of diving with Pluto Dive over the holiday season. Pluto Dive took extraordinary care of us, 10/10 would dive with them again!

Our family did two Cenote dives with Mauro, who has a great sense of humour and explains things very clearly - exactly what you’d want in a dive guide! I had some buoyancy and equalization issues and he was very patient to help me work through them. (For those of you who might get motion sickness in the car, he’s also a steady driver.)

My brother and I also did four ocean dives with Barbara! Barbara is really professional and explains everything clearly - from the dive itself to the logistics, which is super appreciated!! When I go to dive, I like to not have to sweat the small details. Above all, her most shining trait is how passionate she is about creating an amazing experience for you. I mentioned that I didn’t have great buoyancy control and she made sure to talk to me about it and observe me while underwater, which made me feel cared for. There had been some torrential rain all week in Playa so the visibility wasn’t the best; I could tell that she cared deeply about it and kept offering to give us our money back if we didn’t want to do more dives because of it. (She also gave us our money back for our dad who fell ill last minute and couldn’t make his dives.) While underwater, she’s constantly looking for marine life to point out to us, too!

Captain Felipe and his crew were incredibly helpful while we were onboard for our ocean dives as well, preparing all the tanks and our gear, and helping us put it all on. Additionally, Barbara and the crew took extra care to figure out where we should get into the water so that we’d have an easier time when we went down.

Other small details are also worth a mention: calling our cab driver so that he showed up by the time we got back to the dive shop, hanging our suits between days so they’d be dry by the time we showed up the next day, making sure we had all our cameras, and shoutout to Alberto who looked after our personal belongings while we were out in the wild!

My 2 friends and I wanted to do some Scuba Diving in Playa Del Carmen this past February. I reached out to Pluto Dive as I've used them in the past and found them to be wonderful.Communicating with Pluto Dive is very easy.They are very timely with their responses and they addressed all of my concerns. I have not dove in 2 years and my one friend was recently certified.I also noted that I have had a difficult time with equalizing, especially with my right ear. The people at Pluto Dive are extremely nice and extremely patient.We did not have any scuba gear and it was not a problem getting outfitted as they have a good supply of scuba gear. Their equipment is well maintained and they were extremely helpful in fulfilling our needs. Also, and importantly, from the first contact with Pluto Dive it is easy to see that safety is their #1 concern. As for diving with Pluto, I have been fortunate to dive in many spots in the world and I have never had a better dive master than Barbara! She was more than patient in making sure that I was able to equalize and get to the bottom. She did this all the while with paying attention to my 2 dive buddies. Pluto dive is great. We did both cenotes and ocean dives with them which I recommend since the shop monitors conditions and will take you to the best diving for that day. Groups are always small so you get good attention and they are always willing to help you improve your diving. Safety is always their priority to make sure you have enjoyable and safe dives.

We had Andrea and William for our guides in the Cenotes. Both were great, never rushed, and always gave good diving tips.

Ocean dives were great too. Barbara and Andrea where our guides. Did deep dives and shallow dives. I wanted to practice some skills while there too which they more than encouraged and assisted me with. During one of our dives, another dive boat showed up and they steered us away from that group so we could enjoy the reef to ourselves.

One in our party of two, did his advanced certification with Pluto. They were thorough and adjusted the course to his interests. Really improved his buoyancy and confidence as a diver. Also, spent time with him after completing the course to give his tips and things to work on to help him improve further.
