5.0 stars.. really? I was a little skeptical, but I had to try it and lemme tell ya, I’m glad I did! They certainly deserve that 5 star rating! Right off the bat, the feel of this place was sort of like an underground tiki bar. Gravel flooring matches perfectly with the natural feel they’re going for. Even though it’s very causal, when they set and clean the tables, they are attentive to details! I watched as they carefully placed all the plates, napkins and chopsticks with patience. I noticed how careful they were even with that.
For the food, probably some of the best sushi rolls I’ve ever had! Make SURE to ask for spicy mayo - this is NOT typical spicy mayo that’s squeezed from a tube. I watched the chef mix a few things by hand before bringing it over to us. So this was made-by-hand spicy mayo and it was delicious! Every bite of both the rolls and the sauce we dipped the rolls in was better than the last.
If you’re skeptical of coming here, don’t be, go experience good rolls, sushi, service and watch them get made right in front of you by the same person that takes your order. This place is absolutely deserving of your business and they appreciate everyone.
You can tell by their humble demeanor that they are kind and sincere people that enjoy serving their customers. I will certainly be back!
Also.. one of the negative reviews mentions the 6% credit card fee - yes it’s true but it’s very very fair. The sushi here is INCREDIBLY well priced that the 6% fee is a joke. Not a big deal at all. I paid $26 usd for 4 rolls and a drink! That’s unheard of! So yes, please charge me that 6% as the owners of this place shouldn’t have to carry that burden with prices this reasonable! Lastly, no they do NOT add gratuity automatically! It is a suggestion and it’s up to you to press the percentage you...
Read moreWe were so happy we stumbled upon this gem walking around during the day off of our resort. Looked it up to see if we wanted it for dinner that night and we’re so glad we did!
The owner/chef/waiter was very good, super friendly and inviting. We don’t speak very much Spanish so he took care of us mainly upon doing all the sushi prep as well. He was great!
The place is super cute and intimate. They brought fans over right away as well to help with the heat. But it didn’t bother us. We walked from our resort along I think 10th Ave. bunch of shops and restaurants but not near as many people badgering you like on 5th Ave. Easy walk in a good location. Forget you’re in a city once you sit down.
The food was fabulous. We loved being able to order a bunch of smaller portions of different sushi’s. Everything was great, seemed like each roll was trying to upstage the already high standard of the previous roll. The Caterpillar was probably our favorite and a must order next time but everything else was so good we want to keep exploring the menu.
Pricing was super super affordable. They do take cards with a small fee which is really nice when you don’t want to exchange money for one night.
Overall fantastic place top to bottom. We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area. Fantastic food backed by just as...
Read moreAbsolutely not a 5 star experience, sorry to say, but honestly going in with such high expectations will set you up for disappointment. The sushi is decent at best. The fish tasted fresh, but the rolls and appetizers were pretty lackluster.
Staff was friendly but a bit disorganized. The place is not well maintained at all, with dirty fans, a dirty fish tank and the run down bathroom killing the vibe. It’s also pretty hot & stuffy in there, so if you are craving sushi I’d suggest only going when it’s not too hot & humid out.
I made the mistake of not reading the negative reviews before coming here, and if I had I would have decided against it. Not only are they mostly correct, but the owner seems to be responding negatively to everyone rather than fixing the issues they point out. That to me is a huge red flag! My advise to the owner is: accept that to maintain a 5 star restaurant in a city filled with exceptional food experiences, you’ll need listen to the customers and accept that there’s always...
