Cartoccio playa Street Seafood — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

Possibly the best fish tacos I've had the pleasure of enjoying. My companions said the same for their shrimp tacos. I eagerly wanted to eat here and will definitely go back.

Tasty seafood with generous portions, amazing cilantro sauce, and delicious touch of fried carrots on top.

The optional sauces were also delicious but certainly not required as the tacos had so much popping flavor. The habeñero sauce is as hot as you'd expect, and the chipotle mayonnaise sauce was so good and flavorful without adding heat.

Carlos, the owner, is very friendly and accommodating. His attention to detail in his food and business is clear. Pleasing presentation of the food, cute little well-cared for counter stand, menus in both Spanish and English, and a top-notch design and shop front. A KRAKEN!

You cannot beat the price, either!

Tiny place with great decor and attentive service. I wanted to like the tuna burger because it looked amazing at first but it was a disaster. Don’t get it unless they change it to fix the problems. Other dishes looked good.

The tuna is not a burger paddy it’s literally several pieces of tuna steaks which tasted amazing on their own but because they’re thick tuna pieces half of it falls out. The worst part is this burger is too watery. The bread is literally soaked.

To the owner: the burger would’ve tasted great with just good toasted buttered bun and the tuna steak, maybe light mayo or something. Instead it was piled with a salad. The bottom bun could not be eaten at all. This made the burger not satisfying at all. You really should consider making paddies by chopping up the tuna and mixing it with something so they don’t fall off easily.

Wow. This is unbelievably gooood! All the food we ordered was delicious and well presented. Especially the gamba burger which the chef recommended to us was so good with lots of big shirimps and some amazing guacamole inside.

It is a little place and there was only a few tables but we liked sitting there quite long, enjoying the music and cool street vibe. It would also be perfect place to grab a quick snack or get something to go (I highly recommend their calamari for this).

The price was very reasonable overall, probably the best seafood deal in the Playa. Stop getting ripped off on the 5th avenue and just try out this place! You won't be disappointed😉 I hope this place thrives and maintains its amazing quality & price so we can enjoy it for many years.
