La Peña De Santiago Madero — Restaurant in Querétaro

A nice, cosy, very friendly, and a bit chaotic place, perhaps like a Mexican household. The owner and her daughter (?) seem to be the only staff, but they are searching for many more (kitchen, cleaning, waitress, more), and they are very - very! - friendly. I love the owner's sassiness and how she makes time to interact with the customers.

We got free (warm, large) bread with strawberry mermelada, which was nice.

I ordered eggs with machaca. Unfortunately there was no (or very little) machaca. Fortunately, however, it was served with chilaquiles verdes on the side, and the eggs with chilaquiles were a delicious combination.

My girlfriend ordered chilaquiles rojos. The sauce was a good spiciness that fit, how it should be. The chicken pieces were a bit too large, but this is a personal preference.

The mazapan smoothie was very nice! The lemonade was good. The carrot cake was delicious, the best my girlfriend tried in Mexico.

If you are in a hurry, communicate this; the staff is super serviceable, and definitely do come here for a nice time...

Pésimo servicio al cliente, me acerqué a preguntar si la cafetería era pet friendly y la chica que estaba atendiendo se escondía de nosotros y pensamos que no nos quería atender, al final se acercó y le preguntamos si podíamos pasar con mascota (mi perrito es talla chica y es muy educado) nos dijo que la sucursal pet friendly era la que estaba al lado de diktatur cruzando la calle. Fuimos a esa sucursal y ahí ni si quiera nos querían atender, mi hermana tuvo que perseguir a un mesero hasta donde estaba atendiendo para preguntarle si podíamos pasar con mi perrito y nos dijo "es que ahorita estoy solo y hay mucho trabajo, no te puedo atender, la sucursal pet friendly es la que está al lado del Super Q" todo esto con una actitud altanera y super grosera. Prácticamente nos mandó de regreso a la sucursal a dónde ya habíamos ido a preguntar. No me molestó qué no me dejaran entrar con mi perrito, me molestó la actitud grosera y altanera de parte de los meseros, cuando se supone que tienen que brindar un buen servicio al cliente, aparte de que solo era una pregunta, si me hubieran dicho desde un principio qué no aceptaban mascotas, nos hubiéramos ido sin ningún problema pero en su lugar prefirieron mentir y tratarnos de forma grosera a mi familia, a mi mascota y a mi, además hacernos caminar para al final tirarse la bolita entre sucursales.

No recomiendo el lugar por su terrible...

A very nice place, with a fantastic service! Located in the historic center of Queretaro, this place offers great mexican food with a fantatstic service, provided mostly by the owners of the restaurant. One of the owners, a famous actor in town, know as "El Marqués", was extremely helpful and nice to us, giving us tips about all the atractions in and around the city.
