We found La Grupa to be kind of a magical experience. We dined on the terraza and although it was a bit chilly, there were plenty of tower heaters and a staff person came by and offered us blankets. The ambiance was beautiful. There was a kind of golden, warming glow to everyone & everything. I ordered a gin martini which was the best martini I’ve had in Querétaro in 4 years. Then I asked for a glass of red wine with my meal and the waiter brought out 2 bottles and described each to me and gave me a taste of each to decide. I selected one that was superb although they were both wonderful. All four of us ordered a salad and a pasta dish. The Huerto salad was fantastic with crisp greens, grapes, cheese balls, grapefruit & cherry tomatoes. The dressing was the perfect accompaniment. The Fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp was so creamy and delicious. The shrimp were small but there were plenty of them. Our other 3 diners raved about their pasta, one being Ravioli and the others were a fettuccini dish. The service was efficient and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. One thing to note; since it’s located on the top of the building, there are a lot of stairs to navigate (no elevator), so maybe not a good idea for medically challenged or...
Read moreFirstly the place itself is nice to look at. We went there in winter and despite the cold weather, there were no seats available on the terrace-not so much of a problem-it was freezing and there was only one outside heater. We were given a table in the bar part of the restaurant and every time someone opened the door, an enormous gust of wind greeted us. The view was lovely, churches and rooftops lit up. Now let’s get to the food. Terrible. I don’t know if the chef was off work sick but I found the carpaccio of porta bella mushrooms dry and tasteless, honestly if I hadn’t been starving I would have left it. For the main course we ordered arachera (beef) everyone knows beef must be ‘saisi ‘ but not the stand in cook. It was pink and tasteless. We left most of it and just ate the veggies. The prices were for a decent meal not what was served to us. I’m not a picky eater and was SO...
Read moreI don’t usually review a place that I don’t like however the food at Terraza la Grupa is horrible. I was told to come here for the terrace which I will say is good along with the service. I just can’t get over the poor quality of the food. The taste, quality and representation of a dish was just off completely. Terrazas versión of eggs Benedict is a slice of French bread or bolillo with deli ham, they type you put on a sandwich and a sour version of hollandaise sauce. No English muffin or Canadian bacon or even bacon. Cheap packaged ham from the supermarket . My partner couldn’t eat more than one bite and even said tasted “bad” like the ingredients weren’t fresh and perhaps beyond expired. I ordered chilaquiles which I couldn’t eat because they also tasted “sour” and I actually threw up when I got home. This place needs a new chef with experience in the dishes they sell and...
