El Cocodrilo — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

Our favorite local spot. If you are going to coba ruins and want to have lunch after, this is the spot. The staff is really nice and friendly (they speak good english) and can explain the menu. Go with what the waiter comments (the pork meal, with beans, rice and small salad). This is their most popular and dish which has history of the Mayans, waiter will tell you a story about the dish which is pretty interesting.

For the appetizer get their guac and chips, perfectly made from scratch which takes a bit longer but you won't regret the choice. We had a party of 7 and first ordered 2 of these, but then ordered another one of which all were cleaned out. Next time with same hungry group we can easily order 4.

Fresh juices are also awesome, but I cant stop to thinks about the sauces that they serve. My favorite is the brown spicy sauce that goes well with chips and guac and the meat. It's a type of spicy that is hot enough to stop, but you can't because it's so tasty, so you continue until your forehead sweats. Worth the experience and maybe a slight ring of fire the next day.

This was our 2nd time in Tulum and 2nd time in this restaurant. Love it and if we ever come back to the same area , will definitely come...

Overall had a very poor experience here. We came due to good reviews here on Google maps which makes me feel the urge to leave an honest one explaining our bad experience here.

The lemonade was a bit expensive compared to other places and quality was far below average (most selling right at the street for 20-40 Pesos are better), I assume was not freshly made and pretty thin.

We ordered two vegetarian meals, grilled vegetables and Empanada. The Empanada was the worst I had in Mexico, the vegetarian vegetables were okay, but just one chop stick for more than 5 USD.

Honestly from a scale of 1 to 10 my quesadilla with just cheese and vegetables was absolutely phenomenal….. it’s an 11 -

The chips and salsa from 1 to 10 with a 12 it was free if you must three servings so far so super spicy tomatoes are really fresh and the second batch of chips is even better than the first

Highly recommend the orange juice taste super fresh I will get ice on the side so you get more juice

Order the vegetarian salad with extra avocado goes down well but you have to mix it with the quesadilla
