Guacamole Grill — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

1st floor. We were staying there for 2 hours. Everything was pretty fine and the manager was really amiable with us. However when we needed to pay the waiter asked us how much tips we want to leave 15% or 20%. When I said that we ordered everything ourselves from the counter and nobody came to us to take the order we cannot leave this amount and inquiried her to clarify why she is asking it when there's an option of 10% on the card machine.

What she said was really shocking: "You cannot leave 10% as we are working during the night".

Eventually we refused to leave any tip as that was super frustrating and she asked us to leave the place immediately since they are closing. In 5 min it turned out that they are still open and they're asking just to move the people around so they could clean a part of the cafeteria the people were sitting at before.

Would be fair to mention that even in spite of the prices, the servers on the 2nd were really helpful and nice towards all the people there, but general impression of the chain was...

I had a vegetarian salad bowl and my partner had the veggie burrito. With two bottles of water and guacamole and chips, it came to 1000MXN (expensive but that’s to be expected, plus vouchers from our airline brought this down to a reasonable 600MXN). The service was diabolical, however - I watched another diner walk away after having an additional-cost item added to his order, being rudely spoken to by the staff when he questioned the bill, and then watching the same employee proceed to sift through his salad and individually pick out every piece of pico de gallo to put in the bin. Outrageous.

I also ordered corn as one of the items in my salad. I don’t eat dairy and was shocked to find cheese mixed in with the (supposedly plain) corn, with absolutely zero allergy labelling or warning and obvious cross-contamination at the salad bar. This needs to...

Because of places like these we leave reviews . Prices are UNREAL. You will not even pay this type of money in the USA , South America Europe and so on FOR AIRPORT FOOD. Besides the price , the food is actually good . I mean it’s not chipotle but it’s good . The service is incredibly rude . WOW. Usually everywhere people are friendly just not at Guacamole Grill inside this airport lol. As we paid 38$ for our two bowls ….. and signed our bill . My husband was very rudely asked if he will not leave any tip . The guy didn’t know we WOULD HAVE put some in the tip jar . This is not a sit down restaurant so there is no obligation as to tipping or not . I mean you tip for GOOD service . And just a nice little reminder : NO MEXICAN will leave a tip …. Not even Europeans . So this is solely because of people from the United States ....
