Please beware of deceiving website photos and online reviews from “local guides”. This beach club is nothing like the idyllic tropical oasis portrayed.

This club is very disgusting with unkept sand filled with litter, rocks, and seaweed. The furniture is stained with spilled food, weathered, torn, and falling apart. The multi-page menus were covered in old food and grease. The water in front of the club was only a few feet deep, with the bottom sand covered with debris or weeds. The area just plain smelled. It was not scenic in any way.

The servers were very lazy, dim witted, with no personalities and acted bothered when they actually had to take an order. Getting service was very slow. The food was decent but the prices for drinks and food were very high for Coasta Maya - more inline with Florida.

The restaurant also scam’s customers when using credit cards. They price everything in USD but will not charge you in USD. They say their bank requires all charges must be made in MXN. They then convert the USD value at a very unfavorable exchange rate. Basically you pay 12% more to use credit. If you have been to any reputable restaurant in Mexico you know they can charge in in either USD or MXN. I even understand 3% credit fee but 12%.

Also don’t fall for their Beach Club reservation fee. Where you prepay a deposit online and then pay the balance on arrival of $30 / pp. This $30/pp is a min spend. Once you do this you are now stuck and when you walk across the street and see the disgusting beach / club area you can’t leave without forfeiting your $30.

If you walk just south of Malecon 21 you will find several much nicer clubs with clean well kept sand, newer furniture, and much lower to no minimum spend requirements as long as you purchase some food and drinks during your stay. You don’t need reservations at any of these places, just get there by 11:00 am and pick the...

Where do I start? The entire staff was outstanding. Nico and his team did a great job making our dream day come true. We held our wedding at malecon21 on August 17th 2022. Even though we had morning rain the staff went in to full effect once it stopped and manager to get the venue ready for our guest and ceremony in record time. It was shall I say very never racking to plan a destination wedding to a place you never even seen or been to other than. Photos. But pleased to say the wedding could not been any more perfect. Everything we dreamed of and even more. I can't recommend malecon21 enough. Rather you are looking to book a wedding or just relaxing day with good food , great drinks and outstanding service. This is the place for you. The wedding planner Nancy was amazing. She listened to everything we wanted and managed to get all our wants and even found vendors for things we wished for and made them reality. Even putting up with my groomzilla self lol and constantly changing things. She handled everything professionally and managed to keep us calm. The entire event flowed like clock work. We arrived by cruise ship so our time was limited. But our guest can not stop talking about how it was absolutely the most beautiful wedding they have attended. And we owe it all to malecon21 and Nancy. Thank you so very much for all you have done for us. And when. Ever we are back in Costa Maya. Guarantee that we will make malecon21...

I came to Malecón21 with my fiancé after booking the 40 USD freedom package. We arrived via taxi from the cruise port and were greeted right away, then brought to the counter so they could check our reservation & give us wristbands.

We were assigned David as our waiter, and Marco as his assistant waiter. Both of them were very kind and helpful. At one point, signs that it was going to rain began appearing. We had been served food out at the beach, so I figured that we would just try and finish eating quickly, but David & Marco came over to help move everything under their covered area instead. David later noticed we were having trouble with a fly, so he brought a device to help keep it away. Very attentive service overall, which I really appreciated a lot.

As for the food, we had the marrow with Mexican street corn, tacos caribe, tacos cochinita, macchiatone, Eden smoothie, & strawberry-cardamom kombucha. Everything was really good, and I feel it was one of the best meals we’ve had. I highly recommend all the items we tried!

The restaurant & beach had a nice, relaxed atmosphere. They were playing instrumental music that was fun & pleasant, and the place wasn’t overly crowded at all.

When we were done, Marco helped us hail a taxi back, which was very helpful.

I really enjoyed our visit here. If we ever end up at the Costa Maya port again, I think we will come...
