First off, we do like to take vacations that are|"luxurious" but we also take a lot of low budget trips to go away more often and see new places.|This review is a budget review|2 things matter most to us|1 cleanliness and 2 a pool|We are content with a basic room as long as we have beds and a bathroom and they are clean (a TV is nice but we have devices to watch content on)|Cleanliness rating 10|Room rating 8 shower ran a little cold|Room amenities basic, beds, AC (there is a ceiling fan, but it doesn't work however it is not needed), TV and ample furniture for two people and 2 end tables by the beds Hotel/condo/VRBO rating 8 simply because there's no elevator|Amenities, free WiFi, pool and a restaurant for breakfast only|Pool rating 6 unfortunately it doesn't get enough sun, and the water is kind of cold (if you're a beach person, this wouldn't apply as much, and the beautiful beaches are on the 90 seconds away)|Staff rating 10|Restaurant rating/options breakfast only, not the best but many options within walking distance|Location to things, for the most part all shopping, many restaurants are within a few minutes walk and the beach is one block away There are many excursions nearby and basically every hotel that is beachfront offers, lounges, tables, food, and drink|If you're looking for budget stay, I would recommend if basic and budget friendly is what you're looking for|This review does not take restaurant food in the consideration|There are plenty of options nearby in driving walking distance|We drove to the hotel and never once took the...
Read moreI'll start off with the positive. This is such a cute hotel modeled kind of like an Italian Villa. The design and architecture departs from the traditional square or rectangle style rooms, hallways ect. I feel this hotel has such enormous potential to be a four star hotel but alas, it is what it is.
The rooms are much larger than normal. I'm guessing maybe 700 square feet? Beds are firm which I prefer. The locally made honey shampoo and soaps are a nice touch.
It's not super luxurious (ie fixtures and what not) but it's adequate for the price.
I can't say many positive things about the staff. They're not rude per-se, they just don't seem to care a whole lot about doing their jobs so don't expect smiling, happy staff to greet incoming guests and to welcome you to breakfast.
They advertise "free parking" but they don't even have a parking lot, only street parking. That's a little disingenuous. It's like saying "free refreshments" and offering water. For people like me riding motorcycles, knowing our bikes are secure is a very big requirement and parking on the street is the last place we want to leave our bikes. Thankfully the manager let me park my bike right near the front door off the street.
I would stay here again because I didn't have a bad experience really, I just think they could do a whole lot better with a little bit of management restructuring, staff incentives and maybe some upgrades...
Read moreAwful experience. We booked this hotel in January for a 3 night stay in April. We arrived at 9pm and the manager told us that we would be transferred to another hotel (from the same KOOX chain) because there were no more rooms available at Matan Kaan. He told us this hotel didn't have a pool or restaurant. Let me tell you the hotel we arrived had NOTHING in common with the hotel we booked, it was filthy, the room was so small we had to side walk around the bed because the wall was so near. The AC had a leak and a drop of water fell on my head while I was sleeping until the whole mattress was wet (remember the wall so near, we couldn't move the bed very far so the manager put a towel under the leak but in a hour it was so weat that the water splashed everywhere), the TV didn't work, and don't get me started with the bathroom, all the tabs had rust and in four days the cleaning lady NEVER CLEANED IT. We talked with a taxi driver and he told us it was an regular thing this hotel used to do, overbook the nice hotel and send the guests to one of the awful ones they had around town. DO NOT BOOK A ROOM AT THIA HOTEL. In the photo I present you the...
