We came a little before sunset and they were quick to sit us and find a space for us on the terrace. The atmosphere was immediatly welcoming and being at the terrace added a nice vacation and relaxing feeling. Around that same time they were pulling the overhead sun covers to reveal the view of the churches around. It was beautiful. Our server was Fernando I believe, and he was playful bilingual middle-aged man with quite a bit of energy; he gave his enthusiastic recommendation for drinks but when asked about the price he just said “don’t worry about the price!” Which was just hilarious. After that they brought a nice chips and salsa appetizer and took our oders. The food did not come fast, but it didn’t take unconventionally long either. If you are hungry and want food right this second, this may not be the best place (though it’s good they give you chips in the meantime). When I asked my table of 4 to each rate the dish they got they said 3.5, 4, and 4.5. I gave my own a 4 just because the salad was overdressed, but overall it was a tasty plate. We also ordered some of their signature deserts (pecan pie and lemon pie) which were surprisingly good. The pecan pie had a sweet yet homie taste baked to ideal while the lemon pie was rich and well balanced. Overall we left feeling like we had a good meal and that we had a good time. This is an international-class restaurant; perhaps because it attracts mostly international and older visitors (from what I’ve seen). This was my second time in hseveral years to this restaurant and I keep the same opinion of it:...
Read moreI hesitate writing this before I leave SMA, because I don't want this secret to get out. El Pegaso was amazing! One of the best meals I've had in the heart of the Centro, and the prices were fair to boot. The server was friendly, bantered a little with us, and provided good recommendations. Everything was exceptional! The drinks (which we asked the bartender to surprise us with) were en pointe, the food portions were good... I split the Chile Jalapenos with my friend as a starter. They were perfectly breaded and stuffed, and the seeds had been scraped, so we weren't on fire heading into soups. I enjoyed the extremely flavorful Aztec soup, which seems to be a staple on most menus here, and this is the best I've had this trip. For my main course, I had the Puntas de res a la Mexicana. I have had a play on this elsewhere, and it is one of my favorite dishes, so the bar was set high, but the beef tips were perfectly cooked, the seasoning was robust, the tomatoes were still a little crisp. I would come back for this dish. However, the star of the show was dessert - the Lemon Meringue tart. Although you could tell these are made earlier in the day and just brought from the display case you pass as you enter, as the meringue is separating from the tart, the way, the meringue melts in your mouth and begins transporting you to heaven, as the tartness from the lemon curd brings you back down to earth. The flavor is...
Read moreI recently dined at El Pegaso in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, and it was an absolute delight. The restaurant's central location makes it a convenient choice for visitors exploring the city.
I ordered three tacos, and I must say they were outstanding. The Mahi Mahi fish taco was a true standout, offering a delightful blend of flavors and perfectly cooked fish. The shrimp and cheese taco was a unique combination that worked surprisingly well, and the beef taco was savory and satisfying.
The atmosphere at El Pegaso is lovely, and the restaurant maintains a high level of cleanliness. The staff is not only attentive but also bilingual, which is a plus for international visitors like me. Their friendliness and helpfulness added to the overall positive experience.
In conclusion, El Pegaso is a restaurant I would wholeheartedly recommend. I had a fantastic dining experience, and I'll definitely be coming back to savor more of their delicious tacos in the future. It's a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a tasty meal in a welcoming environment in San...
