Cumpanio — Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende

I went for dinner here last night based on positive reviews from an Eater article. I order a pesto pasta dish and I waited patiently over 40 minutes and this is what I got! Did they run out of pesto sauce in the back?!! I got my pasta served in a cereal bowl with a trace of Parmesan cheese on top. It had zero flavor. Literally a bowl of wet noodles! I asked to speak to the manager and he apologized. He said he also shared it with the chef. Something clearly went wrong in the kitchen. They comped me for the inedible dish and offered a baked good from their bakery next door. In lieu of a tasty last dinner in San Miguel, I left hungry and dissatisfied with a leftover before closing chocolate croissant from the bakery. Just left Cumpanio in centro SMA. service was worthless!!! Took a seat at the bar and cleared out my considerable emails form theee separate accounts before a guy handed me a menu and I ordered water scone and an americano! He got me the scone water and glass of ice and asked bartender to make my americano. Poured the water took a sip and waited on my coffee. It NEVER CAME! And besides that even after I sat at the bar initially not one of the two bartenders even spoke to me! Waited till hell froze over before walking to cashier to pay for all three:water scone and absent coffee! And yes they were busy not packed but busy! But this is a business that’s what their supposed to be is busy!!! Also Tables still available and yet still ZERO coffee!...

This resturant is nice and has good decor. We ate their twice on our last days in SMA. The night we ate dinner, my mother began having stomach pains and ended up getting sick. I thought it was a fluke until I got sick as well at the airport. We had not eaten anywhere else the last 2 days. My mom was resting in our hotel room, and the housekeeping staff asked her what happened, and she told them. The housekeeper told her not to eat the cheese because it has been of poor quality and people have been getting sick. We had gnocchi with pomodoro sauce and beet salad. I would be weary of eating here if they are serving...
