Raindog Lounge — Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende

​INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING....DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY We patronized Raindog Sept 16, Independence Day evening. We were in the Lounge (upstairs, no lift) in a nice enough setting to have dinner and see the featured band before heading to El Jardin for the El Grito event.

1. we had to pay a cover charge (fair enough) BUT the band started 43 minutes LATE with someone (the owner I think) doing endless clumsy soundchecks......for 43 minutes. Now, waiting for the band, put us behind schedule.
2. The only reason we didn't finish our meal before the band even began began was the waitress brought us drinks, we asked for a minute to decide on our meal. After waiting a considerable time for her to return, we had to go find her to order our meal.
3. Reviews had already advised us that the food at Raindog is inconsistent, with pizza being the best choice. Sadly, this was the 2nd worst pizza I have ever been served The crust tasted frozen or as if possibly made with Bisquick - truly awful and S O G G Y. Unacceptable.
4. Since the pizzas are so small (4 slices) 25cm (9.84inches), we also ordered an entree salad to accompany the pizza. The salad was to be greens, apples, feta and something else w/ salad dressing.. We received a plate full of greens, 4 thin small apple slices, a ​VERY bare dusting of feta, none of the other ingredient, an​d a very scant amount of dressing.​ Not tasty or as advertised.
5. We were only alloted a cocktail size napkin, despite ordering pizza which is typically held in hands to eat. There were no additional napkins on the table !
6. The server never came back to check on our meal, to ask if we needed anything. We waited and waite​d and had to go find her to pay our bill.

​Of all the WONDERFUL meals and great service we have received in San Miguel, this place can NOT be included. We do not recommend Raindog Lounge to visitors ...

The service was good, the music was excellent! We ordered the olives to start because a mix of green and black olives, warmed and stuffed, in mezcal, sounded very interesting! It was the same description in English and Spanish on the menus. But what we got was a cold bowl of olives and what was most likely just brine. And then we tried to explain what happened, so the server took it away but then brought the same thing back again, which we declined a second time. Then my partner's pizza showed up cold and we waited for quite a long time to get a second round of drinks. We rarely ever complain, but then we complained. A nice person on the staff comped us a second round of drinks. Then I hastily paid the bill before my partner looked at it, so he asked to see it again and we were charged for the olives that we didn't eat and didn't match the description. It was a nice night but we basically just talked about trying to get what we ordered or trying to get drinks the whole time. By the end we just kinda hustled out because nobody seemed to understand that we were just saying that the menu description did not fit what we were served and if that's all they had to offer, then we didn't want it. I like olives but if I just want to eat cold green olives in brine I don't need to come to SMA; I can just stand in front of my fridge and eat olives out of the jar. But the people were nice and the music was good, it was just some issues that couldn't get resolved no matter who we talked to and it ended up...

You can get food and drinks here like you can everywhere else. I had the pizza which was delicious and a good value, but the reason you want to come here is the music. Great live music. It seems that there is one main host, who himself is a very talented, entertaining musician, and then depending on the night any number of guest musicians may drop in as well while they're visiting SMA or in between gigs or tours. You won't know this is here from the street. It is upstairs above El Tupinamba, which is also a fun place to spend some time. When I went the music started at about 7-7:30 and there was a small cover. Definitely worth it. I'm looking forward to...
