Atmosphere and service were great. Lovely spot to watch the sunset and enjoy the ocean breeze. Service was friendly and attentive.
Unfortunately, food and drink were underwhelming.
I was quite disappointed that the frozen strawberry daiquiri I ordered was made with a fake-tasting strawberry-flavored syrup rather than fresh fruit. I would have at least expected they use a bottled concentrate made from real strawberries, but it tasted like the syrup flavors you pump into coffee or on a snow cone.
I ordered the tuna filet cooked “sellado” (seared) and described to the waiter (in Spanish) that I wanted it as rare as possible. It was served medium-well done with only a very little light pink in the very center - which is the opposite of how I ordered it cooked. The flavor was nice, but I was very disappointed that it was not at all cooked how I ordered it. The red fruit balsamic glaze was nice enough, but they didn’t strain out the berry seeds, which meant that I encountered tiny seeds throughout the sauce. It would have made sense to strain the seeds from the sauce before serving. Veggies and potatoes were nice - very small portions used mainly for plate decoration.
Overall, is a bit of a tourist trap, but still offers a nice place to watch the sunset. Food is presented nicely on the plate, but is nothing special. Maybe other drinks and dishes are better than what I experienced, but I know there’s definitely better...
Read moreI've been wanting to try this place for some quite some time. However, I would get a mix of good and bad experiences. This time, I was invited, so I couldn't pass the long-awaited try.
The place overall was very clean and a lot of wood washing and a two story beach and ocean view. We chose the Upper. We were promptly seated, and the waiter took our drink orders. They came out rather quickly and then it time for dinner. Since my hesitancy to order a big entree. I kept it simple. Three skewed Shrimp tacos, and my mate ordered the Fish tacos.
Upon receiving my order, I noticed that that my tacos were served on a taco triangle I guess that's trendy nowadays, but all I could see was a tortilla with melted cheese on top ofcall three which covered and disguised any resemblance of shrimp that I could see. I did not know what was under the ooze of Manchego. I gave to ask for cilantro and lettuce from the waiter to at least make it presentable that I wasn't eastimg a cheese quesadilla. What ever was disguised underneath it all was eadable and nothing worth stiking up the band for. My mates tacos were fried and had a good portion of fish on them. However, they did fall apart as they should have used two corn tortillas instead of just one.
So it looks like I should have sided on the half that said the food just didn't cut...
Read moreREAD WHOLE REVIEW!!!!; the atmosphere is fantastic, like out of this world, drinks are good, awesome swim spot, amazing service BUT…the dinner I had, was nearly inedible. I sent back the first dish, mussels in white wine, back. They tasted wrong, incredibly fishy, super rubbery, incredibly salty and the bread with them was so over toasted it was basically stale. The mashed potatoes on the side had coconut in them and were an… odd flavor. I very gently sent them back, still paid for them,no one’s fault! So I ordered the fish tacos, I’m not sure if it was because I returned the mussels or because I am from the US or if that’s just the norm but they were the blandest tacos I have ever tasted. Beautiful presentation, not a speck of flavor. I tried to eat them and felt horrible about sending even the first one back, so I pretended to eat them. The staff is so sweet and I know they are trying hard but the food for MY MEAL was not good at all. The restaurant however is STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL. ALSO VERY IMPORTANT; my parents had better experiences, their food was fine, nothing out of this world, more “meh” still pretty bland, but not necessarily “bad”. Great place for a drink, a swim, and a selfie, or a romantic date, not so much for the food however. Still do check it out! It may have...
