⭐️ If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would.

An absolute disaster. If you enjoy getting ripped off, drinking overpriced warm wine, experiencing the worst service imaginable, and being blatantly scammed out of your change — this is your place.

We originally wanted to sit at the lower beach area. The waiter didn’t even bother to approach us — just shook his head at us from a distance without a word, no explanation, no friendliness, no basic courtesy whatsoever.

Despite that, we made the mistake of staying. We ordered ONE glass of wine (175 pesos) — completely overpriced, not even chilled, and barely filled to a fifth of the glass. It was basically warm, overpriced garbage. For that price, you can buy an entire bottle elsewhere.

The Mojito? Another joke. Wilted, brown mint leaves floating around, and the limes looked like they’d been dead for days. Absolutely disgusting.

Service? Nonexistent. No one asked if we wanted anything else, no attention whatsoever. We had to actively get up and ask to pay.

And then comes the scam of the evening: The bill was 305 pesos. We handed over 500 pesos in cash. What happens? They drop exactly 100 pesos in change on the table, without saying a single word, and walk away. Missing: 95 pesos.

When we confronted them about it, the answer was as ridiculous as the service: “We don’t have any more change.” No apology, no alternative solution, just pure audacity.

We took our 500 pesos back, paid by card instead — of course, with zero tip, which is the bare minimum for this level of disrespect and scam behavior.

Conclusion: ❌ Overpriced, low-quality drinks ❌ Unfriendly, disrespectful staff ❌ Attempted scam with the change ❌ Zero service, zero hospitality

If you enjoy throwing your money away and being treated like trash, go for it. Everyone else: Do yourself a favor and stay far away. This place is nothing but a tourist...

I have been coming to La Monina for 4 years regularly. It used to be an amazing place with great food. About a year ago, a new head manager came in and has a very rude demeanor towards clients and the staff. I witnessed him yelling at staff in front of a full restaurant, and he yelled at my friend who was trying to pay for her meal.

Most of my friends refuse to go back because the service is so bad.

Today, I thought I’d give them another try, and it will be the last time I go there.

I was ignored the first 10 mins I was there- a large family was served right away even though I got there before them. When I asked for a menu the waiter went upstairs and didn’t return. I walked up to another waiter and asked again for a menu. He brought it to me and I ordered right away. The original waiter brought my order- didn’t look at me, ignored me when I said thank you, and contributed to talk with a woman who was not ordering from there. Neither waiter checked in on me, took my empty plates or made eye contact when I was trying to get service. I spoke to the original waiter and told him how I felt that I wasn’t welcomed there and he made excuses about being busy. Mind you- there were 2 waiters and 5 tables of people. I told him this wasn’t the first time- especially with him and that I wouldn’t be coming back.

Peep the photo of my empty plates and glasses while he has his back to me and chats with his friend instead.

Pass on La Monina- the food isn’t worth being treated like an...

A Delightful Dining Experience at La Monina Ocean View Mexican Seafood Restaurant

Our recent visit to La Monina Ocean View Mexican Seafood Restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality that set the tone for the entire evening. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and cozy, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal by the ocean.

The food? Absolutely outstanding. The fresh, vibrant flavors of authentic Mexican seafood dishes left us thoroughly impressed. Every bite was a testament to the skill and passion that goes into their preparation. It was clear that they take great pride in using the best ingredients, and the result was a truly memorable dining experience.

One aspect that stood out was the friendly, attentive staff, who ensured we felt right at home. The level of service was top-notch, and their attention to detail made a noticeable difference in our visit.

An added bonus is that La Monina Ocean View is one of the few restaurants where English is spoken fluently, which made communication easy and stress-free. This made it not only a fantastic culinary experience but also one of the most accessible spots in the area.

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy delicious seafood, great atmosphere, and friendly service, look no further. We highly recommend La Monina Ocean View for an unforgettable...

Excellent service, stunning sunset view, and the food was absolutely wonderful. There were a couple of issues that kept our evening from being a 5-star experience though: When our dinners arrived, they came at 3 different times that were about 10 minutes apart. So about half of us sat there staring at our food until the rest eventually arrived so we could begin eating. About 3/4 the way through our dinner, a female guitarist set up about 3 feet from our table with her loudspeaker and started playing her heart out for the rest of the restaurant and surrounding beach to enjoy. While she is very talented, she was WAAAAAY TOO LOUD. It was "cantina loud," not a really nice family restaurant ambiance volume. We were 2 families and a total of 8 people here to celebrate Christmas Eve. We only get to see each other once a year, so we want to enjoy the time we do get to spend together. We could no longer talk over her singing and cut our night short by probably 45 minutes, without us ordering dessert and another round or two of drinks. We all agreed that it wasn't the ending of an otherwise really great dinner we had hoped for. Sad for us. Sad for the restaurant. Uri, the beach turkey, was definitely an amusement! Of course, we'll be back - but probably for breakfast (which is also delicious) or well away from the entertainment.
