This is my second time staying here - the last time was about 5 years ago. This is what i call a "cheap and cheerful" hotel - basic and clean but don't expect much more than that.|Pros:|Cheap for Cozumel at high season|Rooms are clean|Nice pool on roof|Great location, 2 blocks from the ferry, close to everything downtown (more later)|Fresh towels every day - unusual in these times|They upgraded the breakfast since last time - eggs to order|Great Wifi||Cons:|There are two bars close to the hotel, and i don't remember either of them being obnoxiously loud last visit - but this time they were. Since I'm an early riser, the music was notched up a level just as i was trying to fall asleep. The downside of being downtown and close to everything.|Rooms are a bit tired but to be expected at this price point.||I was debating giving a poor review based on the loud music, which is not their fault. But...something else happened which tipped me over the edge. I made my booking through booking.com about 6 months before going, and I reserved as single person. I knew that they only had rooms with 2 beds. A few months later my buddy said he would join me and i thought nothing of it at the time. (2 beds). When we arrived, the front desk said that since my original reservation said one person they were going to charge an additional $33 per night for my buddy. At the time we had a long day and it was New Year's Eve and i was too tired to fight about it or look elsewhere so i said ok.||Got back home - checked booking.com and they only have a minimum 2 person rate for their rooms (i believe they charge extra for 3rd or 4th person). Went to the hotel website and they also have a 2 person minimum - so the rate for one or two people is exactly the same. So on my $690 (US) reservation they charged an additional $231 (7 nights), whereas if i had changed the reservation before my arrival from one person to two persons it would have been zero. This is the kind of business practice that would make me stay elsewhere. But if you want cheap, like to party at night and make sure you book at least two people, you...
Read moreRooms are clean and spacious and beds are comfortable. Some rooms have refrigerators, which are good for storing snacks and cold drinks. (You have to ask.) The bathrooms are basic but functional (bring your own wash clothes). There also aren’t coffee pots in the rooms , so be prepared to bring your own or go without until breakfast. They have a pleasant rooftop with a swimming pool and table and chairs set around the pool for use by the guests. They provide pool towels at the front desk. It’s a great place to relax and cool down after a hot and sticky day. There is a nice bar up there which now appears to defunct or perhaps in use for special occasions. The other main common area is the lobby where breakfast is served daily. One can sit either inside near the buffet table or out on the front patio. The breakfast is definitely about average with fresh local fruit and yoghurt every, granola, and various egg dish’s with ham and onions or eggs Mexicana with peppers, onions, and tomatoes, a side starch such as French toast or pancake, along with a more than ample bread basket with a variety of selections, mainly on the sweet side. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, making it...
Read moreGreat little hotel right in the middle of everything. Rates are really good too.
It's a very short walk from the ferry. Rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. We had a pretty good view of the ocean from our room. The rooftop pool is awesome and provides a 360 degree view of the city/ocean. It seems that there is a rooftop bar, but I think it's currently closed due to covid restrictions. (The property is very good about observing covid precautions, as are most all businesses in Cozumel).
The room included a complimentary breakfast as well, which was really tasty. I expected the usual "continental breakfast" of bagels, donuts and cereal, but this is an actual, prepared to order breakfast. Be sure to try the chilaquiles!
The only thing that would have made the room better is an in-room safe and perhaps a mini-fridge (or ice bucket).
Would definitely...
