I've been making barbecue for close to 20 years and have taken lessons from the legendary Paul Kirk, seven-time world champion known as the baron of barbecue. I tell you this so you realize I know a thing or two about barbecue from the south.

I've been coming to Mazatlan for almost forty years and have never been able to find authentic barbecue that I'm used to from back home in the US. Several establishments have tried it, but nobody down here has figured it out until now here at Austin's BBQ. Aurelio, the owner knows how to do it the way we do in the US and it is absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend this place!

We went to Austin BBQ at their new location in the Golden Zone. It is in a great location across from F.I.S.H. and Rico’s Cafe. We ordered the Texas package that included beef brisket, beef rib, pork ribs, pork shank chicken wings, pork belly and a homemade pork belly / brisket sausage plus sides. We were a party of four but 6-8 people could have eaten off the huge portion of meats.

Austin BBQ offers true Texas style smoked meats. They offer beef brisket slow smoked for 14 hours that has a beautiful smoke ring. The beef and pork ribs done low and slow in his smoker, not boiled then grilled a few minutes like so many places in Mazatlan. Real Texas Style Smoked BBQ. Went to AUSTIN BBQ Monday and had one of the best smoked BBQ dinners I've ever had. We tried pork ribs, brisket, pork belly. Tender meat and great smoke flavor. We are going back to try beef ribs, pork shank, and homemade sausage and chicken wings. Don't miss this place! They are on Av. Gabriel Ruiz at Av Camaron Sabalo. Across from Inn at Mazatlan around the corner from Rico's coffee. Seating inside and outside with great music playing. They also had a Big Screen TV with a Monday night NFL game playing.
