Greetings from the motherland! Well, it was bound to happen eventually. My favorites were gathered this morning in beautiful Mazatlan, Mexico. Breakfast, chilaquiles, and the beach. After many years of eating in this food wonderland and finding very little to compliant about food wise, I finally encountered an establishment with very little to celebrate. Chayito was on my list of places, not yet tired, and from the start, the stars were not aligning for a favorable outcome. Chilaquiles are my favorite Mexican breakfast items, so I was eager to try them here. I know that they vary from regional styles and locations and that they can not match mine, my mother's, or anyone else's kitchen style. The restaurant was slow, so I figured the order would be served in a timely manner, but it wasn't. My glass of orange juice was canceled, I was told because it was discovered to be spoiled, so I had to switch to coffee. I ordered my plate with no salad, and the over easy eggs on a side dish. Two more failed requests, as you can see. Even if I wanted the salad, it was not fresh and presented poorly. The biggest disappointment, though, was the Chilaquiles. Basically, what was served was a pile of chips, with tomato sauce, smothered with cheese. No simmering or adequate spices to complement the dish. The only positive experience was the server, who put her best face forward, sensing my disappointment. And the beans were good but disproportionately served. Hopefully, this was ...

The food was alright. Pretty bland for Mexican food—definitely tailored for tourists. They do pay attention to food allergies, which is a plus. Service is quick, so I figured I’d give it another try.

Update: I gave it another shot, and I’m really glad I did. I spoke to the staff in detail about my food allergies, and our waiter was amazing! He mentioned he was also a cook and made sure there was no cross-contamination in my meal. Food was really good!!! 😊

Now I’m a loyal...

Amazing Pozole! It’s not very often you find a restaurant that lives up to the hype online. This place exceeded my expectations from the reviews I read online. I was feeling under the weather and their Pozole got me right back on my feet. I highly and honestly recommend this place if you are in Mazatlan. Looking forward to dining in. If the take out was this great, I could just imagine how the food is going to be dining in. Thanks you guys for the...

1st visit. 5 - 7 happy hour, 2 for 1 we had a Margarita I belive they used a mix or I would have given 4.5 star. Manly Mexican customers. We had the Chimichanga which was a very good price and filling, we loved the smoked chili sauce. We ordered a salad as well but we were too full to eat it. I will return. 2nd visit food good and large serving, staff very nice. Mixed cocktails still poor they use mixes that taste very poor quality

Yes!!! 1000 times yes! This is 100% authentic Mexican family cooking. Had the Pozole and was not disappointed. Full of flavor, not too spicy, but the hot sauces we're close by to tailor to your taste. After dinner dessert we had the sweet potato pie, which 2 completely separate locals, and then the waiter reached about. They were correct. It's a lightly sweet pie (think pumpkin) with a crunchy nut topping. Amazing.
