The band and atmosphere were good, but the service and food were both terrible! We waited for 10 minutes for drink order, then when we were about to order our food, our waiter told us that it would be an hour or more before we got served. Rather than go somewhere else, which would have taken about the same amount of time, we ordered. There were 5 of us in the group and 4 of us were served our meal, with the 5th left waiting. All 4 of us were finished eating when the 5th finally caught the waiter's eye and motioned that he had no food. The waiter asked to be reminded of the order, then brought it pretty quickly. The portions of food were large, but the quality was sorely lacking. We've been in Mazatlan 2 month this year in our 20th consecutive year visit, and I can honestly say that the hamburger at La Catrina tonight is the worst I've ever had! If you choose to go to La Cateina, go for the beer...
Read moreNever a dull moment at this place. I have gone during mid day, still has its busy moments but last mid week, around 9pm, it was lit with live band and dancing. The loudest bar on the far end of SÔbalo Avenue. Pure, classic fun.
We were greeted outside patio and led to a long table close to band/ dance floor. A first time for some of my family members and friends. They immediately loved the place.
From the band, the very decorative open setting establishment, attentive servers, busy bartenders and good food and drinks. Perfect blend to spend our night out in mazatlan (day 1).
As busy (and loud) as the place was, our server was nearby ensuring we were taken care of. Although we didnāt stay no more than an hour, we were able to enjoy La Catarina and its festivities of the night. We also had planned to make it to another bar before midnight.
Expect a good time if not great time at La Catrina Iām...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn a food landscape like Mazatlan, where it is dominated by seafood restaurants, La Catrina is a great option for something different to eat. I absolutely love seafood, especially mariscos, Mexican style dishes. But even I can't eat tacos and shrimp every day! La Catrina is just walking distance from our home here in Sabalo Country neighborhood. It's a sports bar style restaurant, with both indoor and outdoor options for dining. It has a nice menu, yes, with traditional Mexican cuisine, but when I'm here, it's for the hot wings and burgers. I suppose it has a feel of the classic American sports pub as well, with its multiple big screen televisions, all running your favorite teams constantly. It also makes me homesick! Just kidding š The service is excellent and courteous, and the place is always clean. Take a swing next time you're...
