It’s a weird spot for such a good pizza. It is nestled in a corner of what seems like an odd strip mall. The location screams take-out but the food is high end Italian that you owe yourself to sit down and enjoy with a glass of wine.
I ordered the Margherita pizza as it is a staple of Italian cuisine and easy to judge the merits of a pizza place with.
The pizza dough is outstanding. Thin in the center and pillowy on the edge, with good elasticity in every bite. Their oven runs a bit high as it had more char than I like.
The basil used was not the correct one for authentic Italian feeling but it was acceptable. They were however very generous on the good quality cheese almost to a fault because it makes the pizza a bit runny when you try to pick up a slice. However each bite was so rich and so good that I easily forgive this.
Service was great but the setting for this pizza place is a bit odd. It merits waterfront real estate with a larger walk-in crowd. It’s so much better than all the other pizza...
Read moreFinally made it here!! Here’s what we had… We ordered their beet salad, which contained large chunks of beets in a line along the plate, sitting on top of a herbed creamy cheese with tiny Gorgonzola cubes mixed in. There were some herbs and mini greens on top. It was quite good. Their Caesar salad, which we asked for with less dressing, was crisp, fresh and tasty. It was made with baby Romain lettuce and a dressing that was less bitingly garlicky than expected, but, quite good. They served a basket of strips of flatbread, actually cooked pizza dough, along side the salads. For our pizza we chose the Diablona $217 Pomodoro san marzano sauce, mozzarella, salame calabrese, and herbal oil. The generous pouring of oil tasted great but served to sabotage the texture of the crust near the center. We thoroughly enjoyed this very flavorful pizza. What a delight! Great service and great...
Read moreI’m not one to ever leave a negative review, that being said this is not a negative just a opinion. We ordered 2 pizzas for pick up since we were watching the Dodger game, my husband walked there in less than 10 minutes when he arrived the pizzas were ready? They said 20 minutes which is totally fine because we know pizza takes time to cook. He came back and we ate the pizzas within 20 minutes of them coming out of the burner. The crust flavor was good as were the roasted tomatoes but the pizzas weren’t cooked enough. When we picked up the slice it just fell down like a soggy piece of dough. It was our fault for not dining in , but the Dodger game trumped us going out that night.
I would love to try again, but this time we’ll be dining...
