very disappointed with our meal. We tried countless times to call to make a special reservation for our 1st anniversary. We could never get an answer. So we decided to take our chances and go ahead to the restaurant. We had read so many good reviews on the place and how nice the staff were. We were rudely met at the door at the sourest lady I have encountered in a long time. My husband informed the lady that it was our anniversary, and her reaction was a 'that's nice' attitude. We did have a nice seat with a view on the ocean outside. We got there just before sunset and did very much enjoy that. The table we were seated at was very dirty. I mentioned this to the lady and she just shrugged her shoulders. We do speak Spanish, my husband is Mexican and we live in Central Mexico, so there was no miscommunication of what we were saying. We found the staff very disinterested in waiting on us. They did as very little work as possible, while we watched them being friendly to all the other tables. I had the lobster, which did not come with any tools to crack the legs open, and only a regular cheap fork to pick at it with. Pacific lobsters are spiny and a little pokey to hold onto. It was grilled and unfortunately overdone and dry. The "butter" was cheap margarine and tasted rancid. My husband had the camarones rellenos, which was good, but not outstanding. We've definitely had better seafood elsewhere in Mexico, including the area where we are from, which isn't even on the ocean! I don't understand why everyone says how great the food is, when it is mediocre at best. a thoroughly disappointing anniversary meal. At least my husband and I are able to laugh...
Read moreHired local tour company off the port from my Princess Cruise Ship at our stop at Mazatlán. We were looking for lunch so our guide, took us to this beachside restaurant.
Clearly, location is everything because it is beachfront and next to a popular restaurant that had live pop music. Whereas this was more of a traditional feel with a mariachi band walking around playing tunes.
Now to the good part. Food. Mazatlan is known for some of the best seafood. So we were hoping to find some deliciousness. However, spending over $100 at this restaurant didn’t seem worth it. We tried octopus, and the shrimp party for 2. We barely finished half the meal. I think it was too much and barely any flavor.
It must be my mistake, the food wasn’t bad. Maybe it’s because I think this type of restaurant is targeted towards a certain demographic. (Mainly the stereotypical tourists, primarily from ethnic types who don’t usually incorporate flavor. And likes things overpriced.)
Not trying to offend, but I’m from San Diego so I guess my standards are high living in a border town.
I recommend this place if you’re looking for a vibe. But I would...
Read moreHaha what a joke!! We went to this place about 15 months ago and had some very delicious octopus, and campechana. We recently went back and what a mistake it was!! I got a molcajete and the thing felt like an afterthought and they just put some random items (tamale, some red colored hotdogs, and some cubes of cheese that wasn't even melted). Trust me when I say I love me some authentic Mexican food and this place has fallen sub-par in my book. We travel A LOT throughout Mexico and have some of the best fish tacos and once again this place has failed to impress!! The fish wasn't fresh (soggy batter) and the tortillas just fell apart. We asked for crema and they literally brought out a dollop of sour cream. I have to say that the ambiance was beautiful and the mariachi were on point!! They might have to pay me to eat there for me...
