Update: still a good spot for an early morning coffee and tennis match. Nice servers and bartenders who remember your preferences. Regulars you can say hello to every time you come. Trivia night is filled with friendly folks!
We walked around a bit and looked at other brunch locations but chose this one because of the bar seating. Great vibe and music when missing a bit of America. Not saying it’s American, but the 80s-2000s were playing on tv and the bartender spoke a lot of English as well as Spanish.
The bartender was nice and knowledgeable. It’s unfortunate there weren’t more people there that morning, but you can tell it was a great place to have a drink and relax.
Looked like a full bar. I ordered a vodka ginger ale and it was a great starter…liked that there was the standard bacon, eggs, and potatoes option, but went for the pepper filled with eggs, bacon, and cheese. Hated the cheese on top, it tasted like melted cream cheese so I scraped it off, but loved the eggs and the REAL bacon. It came with a side of fruit and beans. Portion was good and it was plated nicely. My lunch partner ordered a shrimp omelette and enjoyed it with tortillas.

Read moreWe went on Saturday to try the fried chicken. We went about 8, and they did run out shortly after our order. The chicken was quite good. It came with mashed potatoes, a biscuit that was not very good, a sort of creamed corn that was long on cream and short on corn. Dish could use some veggies. I might have ordered a side if I'd ever been given a menu. The staff spoke English well. but the service was very, very slow and the place was small. The waitresses were spending most of their time on their phones. After 40 mins and with just drinks, we had to go hunt someone down to take our order, even though we told them we came for the fried chicken. We were not the only ones, people begging for menus, other having to go up to the bar to get someone to order another round for their table, tables not cleared, drinks not refreshed. Got to be affecting their bottom line a bunch. The band on Sat was ok, they need a drummer to help kerp them together. The guitar lead was fun. They took requests. The place was full of people from Canada...
Read moreWe stopped in at the Art Museum in Mazatlan and when we were done right across the square was Macaws Restaurant. Very convenient and it looked inviting. They had tables setup outside and inside depending on what you want....sun or shade. The food was good comfort food for us travelling Canadians...burgers, dogs, onion rings, fries and many other items. Even ice cream sundaes and banana splits. The food was excellent and the onion rings were huge and delicious. The restaurant was clean and the staff was efficient and helpful. I heard the owner may be Canadian...we had a good time and if you need a sports fix they had several big screen TVs available. A great place to eat and watch the...
