When we arrived this morning a little after 10am the restaurant was busy and they told us to wait a few minutes by the hostess podium. Obviously, this is totally understandable. As we stood and waited we grabbed a menu to take a look at what we wanted. An older white couple walked in and the husband walked straight to the back of the restaurant and found an empty table which he took and sat down. The male waiter saw him and told him it was okay, even though he knew we had been waiting and still were waiting for a table. He came to the podium and asked for me to step behind the podium. The wife acknowledged that we were there first and had been waiting. The male waiter said it’s okay I have another table coming up. Initially I had spoken to him in Spanish but when the lady said they were here first I replied in English saying that this was not fair as we had been here first. As a person who works in a restaurant dealing with customers he should have told the older white man I’m sorry but there are people in front of you waiting for a table. The lady knew the waiter had done the wrong thing so she stood there and waited with us and talked until we were seated about five minutes later. He then sat us down and took about five to ten minutes for him to come back to the table. He never gave us a menu I had to get up to go get a menu. He then came by and said I will be back to take your order. He took about another ten minutes to come back. He took the older white couples order and told a female waiter with a long braid if she could take our order. We placed our order, the restaurant had emptied out, and more than 30 minutes passed and our food was still not out. I got up and walked to the counter and asked for him to close my check with just the two drinks si ce it had been 30 minutes and our food was still not out. He looked to the left and our food was sitting on the counter he’s said it’s out already. He brought the food and the food was old. The scrambled eggs had been sitting at the counter and the outside had hardened. The bacon was cold as well as the rest of the food. It was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have had here in Mazatlán and in the other twelve countries I have visited. Mexico’s own people are being racists towards its own people as usual, basing their “tips” on skin color and the language their customers speak. Although our check was only $591 pesos, I tipped the girl with the long braid $5 USD and thanked her for taking our order when the other guy had refused. Despite the service and food quality, I thanked her for...
Read moreThere was a short wait before we were seated by the host. A table was offered at the back patio but too warm and felt isolated. We decided to stay indoors keeping us cooler with the AC on.
Nice indoor atmosphere. I don't thinking I've ever seen the cafe ever not busy. Tables are usually full and staff are everywhere tending to their tables and work areas. Our server Fernanda was attentive and friendly.
Our order arrived, along with fresh orange juice drinks. Delicious. We could not be more happier with our breakfast/lunch choices. I repeat, delicious.
In past years, I had only tried Rico's breakfast and lunch menu. My experience has always been positive and favorable.

Read moreMy wife and I really enjoyed the food and coffee here. They roast there own coffee on site, and you can smell the operation from a couple of blocks away. The roasting is fun to watch, but if you don't want to smell like coffee for the rest of the day, you should sit I side while they are doing it, the outside seating had small bits of roasted coffee snowing a little. It's actually kind of neat, and I didn't mind, just a warning. The French toast was amazing, and the coffee drinks were better than you would get at any Starbucks. The staff is friendly and attentive and the pricing is reasonable. If you are in the mood for a more American breakfast this is a great little...
