I've been coming to Penasco for almost 2 decades and have lived here full time for the past 4 years. I finally made it to Max's. I wish I went years ago. I was only there for lunch and had the Prime rib sandwich with French au jus sauce....FREAKIN AWESOME!!!! Most places make the au jus sauce too salty but it was perfect. The bread for the sandwich was fresh an delicious. Not to mention the prime rib w/ sauteed onions. I will go again. Mainly because the menu looks great....I want to try the pastrami sandwich and a couple others as well. I will add reviews as I sample the menu. Had breakfast here several times now. Food is great and I've never had a concern in that regard.

Sitting inside is usually not an option as it is very popular place. Sort of warm in there anyhow. Sitting outside can be awkward with a group larger than 4 or 5; there is maybe one table available for that.

Service is kind of pokey and the food seems to take a bit longer than you'd expect for the number of tables they have available.

Cash only place. They have an ATM but it's still a bit inconvenient. Expect to have vendors up at your table pretty much constantly if you eat outside as they seem to have free reign to sell out on the...

One of the worst experiences ever! The owner/ manager didn't care even when we told him about the experience. The waitresses are the worst ever and shouldn't be in the food service industry. Cold food, not all the way cooked and no one even bothered to ask us how everything was. The stray dogs were more attentive than the staff! Go to another restaurant because this one doesn't deserve your time or money. Time is of no relevance here because you'll be forgotten and will be lucky if your whole table of 6 gets all their food.
