"Burritas", delicious, simple ingredients wrapped in a piping-hot, fresh flour tortilla were invented in northern Mexico. Then San Francisco reimagined them four times thicker, with a lot of rice. Then San Diego reduced the rice and got more creative with the fillings. Now, in the last five years they've come full-circle, back to Mexico, and Burrito Amor specifically, has reclaimed and improved them. As a burrito connoisseur, I can tell you that these are among the best burritos I have ever had. Don't miss tasting the vegan burrito with the incredible optional coconut tortilla. Mind-blowing.
Note for the tourists: 1 - As explained above, burritos are not traditional Mexican food. 2 - These burritos are different than California-style burritos. They are more reasonably sized. 3 - The aguas frescas are not the sugar-forward, powder-based ones you are used to. They highlight the actual ingredients. 4 - Tipping suggestions may be offensive in Germany, where wages are 10-15x higher. You are not in Germany, so don't...
Read moreVisited Burrito Amor twice during our time in Valladolid, and we loved the experience!
The cafe has a charming art collection and beautiful aesthetics that make it a standout spot. On our first visit, we tried the Ensalada Pollo, a spicy chicken salad bowl with coconut milk and nuts—such a unique and interesting dish. The Veg Burrito with extra chicken was fantastic, especially with their flavorful sauces and salsa.
For breakfast, we enjoyed the Huevos Orgánicos & Pesto, which was packed with potatoes (though the pesto was just okay), and the Muesli de Avena, which was delicious. The freshly baked Banana Bread (Pan Plátano Recien Horneado) was a real treat.
If you're into art, they have a wonderful collection to browse and buy. The outdoor seating is lovely, right in front of their kitchen, and adds to the cozy atmosphere. The attentive staff made our visits even better by helping with our orders.
Overall, it's an amazing restaurant to try in a new place—definitely...
Read moreThe epitome of a tourist trap. There were 7 of us, and each one was disappointed by both our beverage and burrito. The juices and smoothies were overpriced, came in very small glasses were more water than anything. The horchata was especially terrible - almost had a bitter flavor.
The burritos (most of us paid extra for the "large") were quite small and lacked flavor. The rib eye burrito was almost 50% tortilla, despite the cost.
The service was very lacking as well. One of us didn't receive our order at all, despite being told it was coming. When we caught the waitress's attention again, she tried to tell us she confirmed our order with us beforehand, and all the food was present. This was true, as was the fact that we certainly had reviewed with her the now-missing burrito. We eventually had to order it to go.
Overall a terrible experience. Nice ambiance though, so if you value that more than a good meal, by all means, eat your heart out at...
