Let’s talk about a perfect dining experience…
Walking into the restaurant you are greeted by Alex and his amazing wife. Surrounded by trees, plants and a great display of hand picked decors, the tables are made from beautiful local wood and the seating couldn’t make you feel more at home.
This is a small venue but it’s the perfect size as you get a close up view of the kitchen and the love Alex puts into every dish.
The food is beyond anything you’ll find in El Cuyo. It’s not traditional Mexican cuisine, it’s European influenced. The fish is caught every morning, the beef is hand picked for the highest quality and the vegetables are also locally sourced. Alex ONLY has local ingredients in each dish.
The food we had tonight was perfectly balanced in all 4 senses. The smell of the food cooking will have you excited even before you take your first bite. The presentation of each dish makes it apparent that Alex cares about each and every plate he puts out, from food placement on the plate to colour combinations to make everything pop. The taste is beyond anything I’ve ever had. Alex ensures that with each bite from start to finish is a journey. The plates are consistently fantastic but each bite has its own story due to the perfect combination of flavours he incorporates into his dishes. Savoury, sweet, bitter and acidity are perfectly executed.
Lastly the fourth sense being the feeling you have while dining here. You feel like you’re at your best friend or family’s house on a very important day. As you wait for your food, the music is perfectly fitting for the ambiance, the decors is incredible and Alex and his wife are the most amazing hosts.
This is a must visit place if you’re ever in El Cuyo, don’t miss out on a perfect...
Read moreI honestly don’t understand how this place has a rating of 4.9. We went as a group of 4. Myself, my husband and my parents. They have a set price for the appetizer and the entrée together. My parents and husband ordered an appetizer and main for the price of $550 pesos each and my order cost $650. We all chose the slow cooked ribs for the appetizer. For three out of four of us the ribs were very good. My husband received pure bone with almost no meat on it. We told the waiter. I don’t know if the waiter reported this back to the kitchen or not, but nobody said anything about it. We were still very much looking forward to our main course. My parents ordered one large fish (snapper) between the two of them. It came with the inner part of the fish still raw and not warm to the touch. They sent it back to the kitchen to have it cooked longer. It came back cooked however it had no seasoning and no flavor. It also was not scored the way a fish is scored when serving a whole fish. Because of this, it was very difficult to get the meat off the bone. My husband ordered shrimp. They were very over salted, very small shrimp with the shells still on. He barely touched his food. No one asked him if there was a problem with his meal. I ordered jumbo prawns. It came with the shell and head still on. The shrimp were raw inside the shell. The chef seemed annoyed that we said that the food was not cooked and said he likes his food cooked medium rare. but he took the food back to the kitchen to be properly cooked. My shrimp came back cooked appropriately. However, the baby potatoes on my plate tasted like they were from the day before. And the grilled zucchini was so overcooked it was mush. We were very disappointed and can’t recommend...
Read moreSuch an incredible dining experience. The new location is the sort of place you want to stay in for hours, eating, drinking, relaxing. I felt completely welcomed and at home. Food, service, drinks were all top notch. The copal incense adds the perfect mystique and keeps the bugs down even after heavy rains. I hope they can get their liquor license so that next time I can see what ridiculous cocktails they concoct. In the...
