J Restaurant — Restaurant in Ulaanbaatar

This place reopened with a new owner a few months ago. I think their kimchi soup went kinda viral, came here a few times to try different dishes. The kimchi soup advertised to come with side dishes, and korean pancake was false advertisement.

The service is horrible. The kimchi stew was completely burnt. The lady(maybe waitress maybe manager) accused us of purposefully waiting until after eating half the food to get away from paying.

I let her know we’ve been here a few times, and we will pay the full bill, no problem. It’s just entirely not healthy for someone to drink kimchi stew with completely burnt kimchi and broth.

Got scolded by the lady and accused through and through. Paid the whole bill and left....

This restaurant opened up again after undergoing a renovation and a new menu. Unfortunately, I feel their offering from before was better. Was excited to try the new pork belly kimchijjigae but it was just a sloppy mess. We had the chicken stew and gunmadu (fried dumpling). Chicken stew was way too thick, almost had a gummy consistency. Gunmadu tasted incredibly stale and it had been deep fried multiple times to the point where the dumplings looked just brown on the outside. They should be ashamed to serve such a dish.
